twmiller, I doubt I can be of much help--I'm really new to this stuff.
I sampled the journal bar program that came on the dell disk of sample software. when the trial period was done, I bought the journal bar and expansion pack program directly from omega one. they still don't provide a registration key, something that made me nervous when the program acted up yesterday. the only step i took note of during initial installation was omega one's recommendation to install the expansion pack first, but I doubt that has anything to do with the problems you're experiencing.
sorry I can't help--I made my initial post in search of some reply and expertise.
I have to install an older 'full version' and then upgrade to the latest version. Back when I started using JB they didn't have registrey codes. Instead they gave you the full version, and each upgrade would recoginize the prior version.
Everytime [I have tried on 4 diffrent occasions] I upgrade to the latest version, my X50V locks up and only a hard reset solves the issue.
I have updated JB on my X50V several times over the past year, only had a problem with the first update. The last few have gone fine. I always remove the previous version, soft reset, then install the new version. For one of the updates, I had to also remove my user settings (kind of a pain to set those back up again) but once I did the soft reset the reinstall went fine. Just make sure to soft reset after you have removed the program, then go back thru the Remove program steps one more time, and soft reset again before installing the update. Hope that made sense....

Mine's working perfectly again, today, like it normally does. Yours, too, BirdBrain?
Truth be told, yesterday's glitch was the first real problem I've ever had with JournalBar. I'm guessing they had a little network problem--aw, heck, I have no idea, but the issue seems to have been temporary--not an inherent flaw in the software, and nothing different from what I've experienced with other computers and connections. One day down out of a couple of months; that's better odds than most of the computer connections I've had.
Yup, I pannicked [note to mods: you can move this to the "apologies" or "weak-minded admissions" threads]. My expectations for JB are high--its just great to get full articles from the Washington Post and BBC, not to mention forcasts for multiple cities, when I'm off line.
Apologies to Omega One. They have been responsive to my concerns in the past, and JB is one of my favorite programs.
I haven't had a chance to sync my Axim since yesterday morning ... but based on what you all have said it sounds like JB should get the info now. Will try it tonight when I get home.

Interesting--I've noticed that some sources are regular in their updates and some not ("Wired" is a disappointment; the Washington Post always has new material).
The lock-up I experienced for one day seemed to be happening when the weather tried to load. Other than that one day, it has worked flawlessly on my axim
Journal Bar worked fine for me yesterday, updated quickly (usually takes about 5 minutes for it to show that it is updating with the update bar on the right; usually updates in about 15 minutes max), all info there. Today, it is slow as Christmas - took over 30 minutes for just the weather to update, and for the update bar on the right to move upward. Granted, I'm on dialup, but it is not usually this slow. But yesterday it was fine ???!!
