I have bought around 6 software titles from Handango stores (OmegaOne, Resco) and I had to login to recover my reg codes and it says my email address doesn't exist. Luckily, Resco has a system where you don't have to deal with Handandgo to recover reg codes. However OmegaOne makes you login to your Handango account which apparently doesn't exist. So a one-fingered salute to Handango. I always prefered Pocketgear anyways and I will always shop there for now on.

I got the same message--that my email address doesn't exist. Fortune I have the original emails that give me my codes. I haven't given up on Handango yet, I'll give them a chance to solve this.

I save those into folders, too.

My email still works. I hope they get this sorted out. I was beginning to think this was there way of bullying us into using the DL protection. I sure hope that is not the case.
But as others have said, I have a routine when I DL software, better safe than sorry.
My routine is
emails into a special folder - those get archived on cd periodically
pdf the page on the confirm page on the website - saved to HD folder for the SW
The registration info when received also goes in the folder
Text files and/ or manual, original DL and updates are also in folder
Cab files are on the sd card on pda (need to get better about cleaning that folder out)
one phatnote with the registration keys. Just now switching over to ewallet, but that will take some time, if my pda is lost, i haveother probs besides whether they are using my software.
I agree with AKaJohnDoe, I keep a copy of the software and serial number in files on my harddrive just in case a hard reset happens. This way I can recover quickly. I also backup with Sprite.
Handango ticked me off more than once so I left them long ago. PocketGear and ClickGamer are both very good though. I've never had any issues with them.
I am a developer and I sell directly, and through the listed publishers.
I consider it fair to allow any user to redownload anything he/she has ordered in case the installer was lost.
It's fair business policy.

I agree, and completely disagree with Handango's fee-based "redownload service". Nevertheless, as long as it it optional, and I can uncheck the box and avoid the fee, it is unimportant in my life as I do not depend upon Handango, nor any other service or vendor, to maintain my registration information nor my repository of downloaded files for me. I do expect that I should be able to upgrade without having to go through hoops.
