I got frustrated with Avantgo and switched to a RSS reader. I use pRSSreader. Its free at http://pda.jasnapaka.com/prssr/. Its not the exact same as Avantgo, but very similar concept. I personally think its much better performance wise. Main drawback is you only get a summary of the articles and a link to the full articles.

There's a program called mobile play. I tried it on my x50v, but it took up a lot of memory. Its content seems more limited than avantgo. I have not reinstalled it on my51v, but you might check it out.

iSilo is pretty good

Another choice is using Sunrise (http://www.sunrisexp.com/download/index.html) or Plucker (http://desktop.plkr.org/downloads/msw/) on your PC and then on your VadeMecum (http://vade-mecum.sourceforge.net/) PPC (all freeware). Then I use MobSync (freeware version) to synchronize the downloaded files to the Axim SD card.

well...there is a free version.....but it is crippled....so I'll give you that
