move cache on Opera

Hi,

Could anybody tell me or point me to a resource that gives a step by step guide to moving the cache on Opera 8.60?

I've seen people suggest things like 'edit .ini' but what does that mean?

any help would be great....

thanks

itchy

In addition to the thread recommended by psionandy, I also recommend http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/ind...&c=1&tb=1&pb=1 for some additional tips & a more detailed explanation.

Since doing this tweak (Cache is now in the SD Card), I've noticed a significant drop in speed - downloading pages, UI such as opening new tabs, even opening and closing the application has been an absolute crawl.

Anybody else find this?

That's because SD is slower to read and write to then ram.. If it wasn't then nobody would use expensive ram!

It's a trade off...

Personally I'm now using netfront. Program on SD and Cache in Main Mem, and it works great

Do you have a WM5 or a pre-WM5 device? if you have a WM5 one, use Ramdisk for the cache.

I'm using 2003SE so I guess there's no hope.

I've used Netfront before but I'm sticking to Opera for now as I find the rendering speed to be a tad bit faster.
