Syncing POP3 Email

I have a Dell X51v with WM5 and connect to my Adelphia POP3 email server account. I've tried to set it up to only access my email account on the server when I ask it to by tapping on send/receive in WM5 Outlook. That works fine over wi-fi. However, when I place my PDA in the craddle, it automatically connects and downloads whatever email is on the server. I originally thought there was a problem with Activesync, which I do have the sync email option NOT checked. Now, I'm thinking the WM5 Outlook application must be doing the download automatically itself, but I can't find any option to turn it off if it is. I do have the option asking to "Connect and check for messages every:" unchecked.

Anyone have any ideas on why it is downloading my POP3 email automatically only when placed in the craddle? I want to be able to control from my PDA if/when I download my email.

Thanks.

This is a well-known problem. You can easily get rid of it by following my tutorial here.

Your article definitely describes my problem. I'm not real crazy about going into the registry, but if I do, can you recommend a simple editor to do it with? I've looked over the article related to editors, but there are so many, and I just want to use it this one time, that I'd go with the simplest/cheapest. So if you have a suggestion, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks.

For example TRE or PHM - they're both free.
