Advice required please

OK, I have a massive 4 dollars in my Handango account. This enormous sum will disappear after the 11 of October. In order not to waste this considerable sum, I've decided that I should buy another app for my Axim. I know I will spend more than 4 bucks, but that does not worry me too much. The trouble is though, I don't know what to invest in. After some head scratching I've come up with 3 options:
1. Buy iLauncher- with its potentially useful safe mode and task manager - and it will work with Pocket Breeze, I hope - I have version 4.3.
2. Get the newer version of Pocket Breeze - which is already superb.
3. Upgrade Agenda Fusion from AF 7.something to AF 8.something - the dual alarms feature sounds interesting, but I don't really need it.

Over to you wise frequenters of this 'ere forum. What do you reckon I should splash out on?

I'll even be happy to receive suggestions re other apps. Games and multimedia do not really interest me, though.

Thanks,

Alexim:)

If it ain't broke don't fix it. If you're happy with an app you already have then maybe you should just get a new one. Check out people's My Pda's for cool ideas. What apps could be useful to you? Do you need a list program or an alarm clock? Get what you need, and make your pda useful.

Thanks for the advice - but my PDA is already very very useful and I have the apps that I need. Anything else would just be icing IMHO - which is why I'm not sure what to get.

I've just installed iLauncher to have a play with and it seems OK, although it robs some screen real estate from PBreeze, which is a pity. My other task manager sat in the top bar of the screen, leaving plenty of space for PB. Do I really need it? Not sure yet.

I run iLauncher in a PocketBreeze tab. It does not take any space from PocketBreeze this way. I set the loading method for the iLauncher tab in PocketBreeze to Static to ensure that the icons iLauncher loades up in my system tray are always there.

If you are interesting in seeing some screen captures, follow the links on my web site.

akheron - the selection of software is bewildering!!

AKAJohnDoe - running iLanuncher in a PB tab - I had not thought of that - good idea, but I don't think my version of PB - 4.3 - will let me do this. I think I would need PB 5.x for this - so I could end up with iLauncher and a new version of PB - more than the one app I wanted but............. Do you work in marketing bay any chance;-)

P.S. PB is one heck of a good PPC app and I sometimes wonder whether I could just use it and do without Agenda Fusion.....I don't know.

I shall think on.

Thanks for the input:-)

LOL, nope, not working in marketing!

I am reasonably confident that I recall running iLauncher under PocketBreeze prior to V5, but ... what was I saying just now?

I also use PocketInformant (competition to AgendaFusion) even with PocketBreeze as PI adds some functionality to the basic WM PIMs. I would expect that AF does as well.

Yes, AF adds some functionality as you suspect. Anyway, I just thought I would let you know that I have invested in iLauncher, after having tried it out and found it darned good, I might add. Those folks at SBSH even gave me a neat little discount of 30% for being a former customer.

I like the way they do business and their products are first class. And Mr AKAJohnDoe I may well splash out on the latest version of Pocket Breeze too!!:) :)

Have you ever thought of working in marketing??:approve: :approve:

Well, to take you on an unexpected twist...I have found Wisbar Advanced 2 and Wisbar Desktop 2 to be about the most useful programs own. A whole new approach to desktop management.

I'm sure they are very good, but I do like the way that with iLauncher I can place icons to my favourite apps directly on the today screen, meaning I do not have to use the drop down Windows start menu and the tabbing system seems easier to use than the menu system.

I am using iLauncher with the latest version of Pocket Breeze, which I am testing at the moment and I really like the combination. I do not have to fear too many compatibility problems between the two apps, seeing as they come from the same software house - SBSH. Indeed, I really like the new Pocket Breeze and love the combination of both apps - they really do make things much easier and faster to get at on my Axim.

Having said the above, I have had one lock-up since I've been using the PB iL combination - for some reason when I clicked on an icon my Axim froze and only a soft reset would sort it out. I'm running PB from the SD card and iL from main memory, which may have something to do with it.

In some respects I feel as though I should complain to SBSH for bringing my Axim to an early demise because their apps will ensure that my Axim wears out much faster, as a result of its becoming just far too useable!!!! :approve: :) :)

Alex the happy Ax man:)

And of course if you want those $4 to go further, then ask Amit for the discount codes for PB/IL in his discount thread.. 50% off PB (and then some for il/cb/pw etc... )

Incidentally, the SBSH people released iLauncher 3.0.01 today - a bugfix release to add some language support back in, as well as to fix some lockups caused in the Options area, but indicate it may fix other stability problems.
