Agenda Fusion 8 or Pocket Informant 2007?

Hey all,

In a previous post I stated that I was not happy with the WM5 calendar application that came with my Axim x51v. After looking at several alternatives, I am seriously looking at Agenda Fusion 8 or Pocket Informant 2007 as replacements.

So here is my question: Of the two, which do you consider the best and why? OR, maybe there is an alternative I have not considered that you would give your thumbs-up to.

I really respect the information I get from this board, and am looking forward to what you have to say. :)

Thanks!

Rob

I would certainly say those are the two best PIM products out there for PPC. I don't know which one is best. Would say both have excellent reputations, come from very well respected developers, and offer tons of useful features (many more than most of us ever make full use of). So ... that really doesn't help at all. I'd suggest your starting point might be to trial both of them and see which one you have more of a natural affinity for, as they're both so good it's mainly just a preference thing I think ...

Never used Agenda, but I am using Pocket Informant 2007. I have not regretted my purchase one bit. It's easy to use too. I think I'll try out Agenda Trial just to see though...

You really need to download the manual for each and download the trial for each and see for yourself which you prefer. Both are quite good. You might also consider something like PocketBreeze. I find that PocketBreeze provides most of what I need. I also use PocketInformant as it provides the additional flexibility I need for recurring events and for setting up linkages (e.g.: linking an appointment with a contact).

I tested both out, i found pocket informant to be more user friendly AND it's loaded with features, too! Very intuitive mechanics and a simple interface.

i have tried pocketbreeze, agenda fusion and pocket informant. all are functional, but i have settled on PI if, for no other reason, than the fact that i prefer the user interface. my demands are relatively low other than contacts, recurring events and remembering appts well in advance.

I have used Agenda Fusion for a few years now -- have tried Pocket Informant - find it similar, but like the AF interface better.

Thanks to all of you who gave your opinions. Based on what you all have said, and what I have read elsewhere, both programs seem to be pretty good, but Informant seems to have a slight edge in terms of public opinion.

I have downloaded Pocket Informant 2007 to see how I like it. So far it seems pretty simple. I like the interface. It is definitely is BETTER than what came standard with the x51v (i.e. WM5 Calendar).

Thanks again!

Good choice. They're both good choices and latest PI version is tremendous, and yeah they are both just a tiny bit better than the in-built apps :)

If I can add my two cents... try both programs before you buy. I own so many duplicate programs because I bought one without trying the other first. It's alot of money. Also, I would try Pocket Breeze in addition to PI. The two play together nicely and both are indispensible to me.

Definitely try both on trial. Each is rich in features and customizing options, so much so you'll want to give each a thorough workout.

I've been running Agenda Fusion for over a year now and have been very happy with it. I like the interface a bit more than PI, though PI does have a crisper appearance. One thing I like about AF is that to read an appended note to an item, I don't have to open the item to edit, the note just pops up when I tap it.

Both products are developing some project management aspects, though they've got a ways to go.

I'm trialing PI 2007 right now and like the Daily Notes feature with time-stamping. It easily lets me keep a record of my activities and notes just in case I need it for CMA back-up (cover my ***). I may get it as well just for that feature and at half-price for "converting" from AF, it would be a bargin.

I am currently using PI 2005 ver. Since i purchased it before their time period for free upgrade. I'm caught in a bind.

Can someone tell me if it is worth while putting up the exta money to upgrade from PI 2005 to PI 2007?

btw. i would also recommed Pocket Informat. B/c i too was in search for a great PIM, and since my purchase i have not been disappointed. Until now, since i can't up grade for FREE :(

But all in all the PI is a great program.

So please if anyone has upgraded please advice. I've asked WebIS regarding my situation with FREE upgrade and they said they can't help since i purchased it before the cut off date.

My initial purchase of Pocket Informant 2005 was prior to the cutoff date for a free upgrade as well; however, there is still a discount for the upgrade to PI 2007. I suggest that you go to http:\\www.pocketinformant.com and read what is new in PI 2005, and perhaps download the upgrade and trial it as well. FWIW, I did upgrade.

I agree with some of the others above. I use Pocket Informant...don't know too much about Agenda Fusion, but since its a major player in the PIM arena, it too is probably good.

I would definitely recommend that you try PocketBreeze if you haven't already done so. Even though it's a Today Screen plug-in that pulls the PIM data from whatever PIM you're using, whether it be Pocket Informant, Agenda Fusion, or the default PIM, it is where you will most likely spend most of your time viewing your information. Plus it is a lot faster than using the PIM itself. Try it, you'll like it!
