I've tried two things. First I looked around to see if there was any speech to text software. Unfortunately I couldn't find anything that fit the bill.
So then I started to take a closer look at this transcribe thing, where you write it and it converts it to text. Is there anyway I can train this thing so it recognizes my hand writing better? I'm writing simple words like HI with accurate percision and I'm getting output like ;290()!. It's upsetting. :(
I just simply can't stand using that tiny stylus, and on top of that it's an annoyance to tap each key. Sometime this week I'm getting a new kind of stylus in, it's a cap that fits on your finger which has a point. I think I'll be able to tap-type much faster then, but until then I'm curious to see what my other options are. Ideas?
Ah hah. So there is training. My buddy who's sold PDA's for years said I had to train it, yet I couldn't figure out how to train it. Where might I find that? I looked in the manual but I MUST of missed it.
As a former PalmOS user, I find the Block Recognizer to be the quickest. Some characters are a smidge different -- but so far the quickest I think. I also find the mini-virtual QWERTY keyboard to be the slowest, but mandatory when typing in passwords that used mixed-case and punctuation.
Block Recognizer doesn't like me. I hope the on screen keyboard will be better to use once I get that new finger-cap stylus and I don't have to use this ridiculous skinnyass stylus that came with the axim. Looks like I'm outa options... but looking into that keyboard now...
edit - sorry to sound cheap but the keyboard is a definite no. Too much for me to just talk on aim.
Be nice if there was an on-screen keyboard that had JUST letters. Then for numbers/shift there was a separate key to access them. That might give the keys a bigger area on screen then.
If you're looking beyond on-screen keyboards, you might consider Calligrapher; its write-pad option is something I find very useful for entering text. I like the ThinkOutside keyboard very much, too.
