Proxy settings, picture viewing

I got a new Dell Axim yesterday, and am frustrated by two issues.

First, proxy settings. I *cannot* set it to have only an HTTP proxy. It will not work. It automatically, and incorrectly, enters a SOCKS proxy as well. We don't have a SOCKS proxy. The result is that MSN Messenger attempts to use the non-existant SOCKS proxy. How does one fix this?

Second, photos. I figured this would be a snap. Pulled the CF card from Nikon Coolpix 990, put it in the Axim. The Axim then wants to format it. I say no, I like my pictures. But then, I cannot view them with the Resco picture viewer, or any other viewer I download. The Axim sees nothing on the card whatsoever, though the camera certainly does, and my laptop does as well. Is this "normal" or am I missing something? I presume I'm missing something.

Thanks.

Larry

I'm going to answer your second question since I don't have a proxy I have to deal with.

They Axim should not want to format the CF card. I have a Coolpix 4500 which I can put the CF card into the axim no problem and view pictures. I assume you have no problems with the CF card and windows right? Did you format the card using windows or did you do it with your camera?

I have only ever formatted with the camera. The camera sees the pictures just fine, and my laptop does as well through a PCMCIA-CF adapter. Just the Axim doesn't see anything.

Thanks.

That is weird. Anyone else own a 990 and use it with their axim?

A quick search in Google Groups shows that people are using it with iPAQs and other PPCs... Can you try another CF card as a test?

Ok, since it is supposed to work, I just copied all the pictures off, re-formatted the card, and it now works. I figured if the camera saw the pictures, and the laptop saw them, it must be ok. Looks like it was not. Thanks for the replies. Hopefully somebody has a clue about the proxy settings. I searched here and saw that somebody else had the same problem, but got no answers.
