Registry Clean up Question

dumb question but i think registry stuff is dangerous to mess with so i have to ask first... So after the program searched for Invalid Registries, does that mean it's ok to delete?

Also doing a hard reset cleans the registry.

You didn't specify if you were using a program to find these invalid registry entries or finding them yourself. If you are using something like Memmaid then it would be okay. If you are finding them the manual way then I hope you're pretty sure that it is an invalid entry.

Backup first (Sprite or whatever) onto an SD card or the PC (Sprite), then sure, I use a registry cleaner from time to time. Not seen any problems as a result, and sometimes seen some benefits.

1. Backup, backup, backup.
2. Hard reset will remove all programs and any files that you have installed, as well as return all the original software back to original faotory settings. Only do this if you have a full backup that you know works. Otherwise plan aon reinstalling and re configuring everyting.
3. I have had varying experience with registry cleaning. Memmaid has been very satisfactory and safe. I've not deleted anything with memmaid that I later ended up needing. That said, I think that sktools does a more thorough job. but it does find entries in the registry that you might need for a program that you will run later. I have removed entries, only to find that I needed them, so I even though I like the program, you have to be much for careful with it. If you back up or know what you have in you registry no problem.
4. WM5 seems to keep a lot more in the registry even when you change or remove programs, so I have found both of these programs more beneficial with wm5.
5. Backup, Backup, Backup.

Be very careful with Pocket Mechanic.
It's the most buggy of the 3 main registry cleaners.

Not a dumb question, but if you are unsure about what you are doing or what the program is telling you that it is doing then you have to be prepared for errors. I have always learned more from my errors than from my successes. Backups are always good advice.

I've found the very opposite. Pocket Mechanic has been very reliable on my 2003SE OS, not hosing anything that apparently shouldn't have been, and seemingly improving performance. On the other hand, SK Tools rendered my machine unusable, requiring a hard reset (SD card and contents went bye bye, soft reset woudn't do it, hard reset did).

Same here. Pocket Mechanic is my favorite cleaning app. The registry cleaner never failed for me.
