I recently purchased a X51v. Is there software available for internet filtering for Internet Explorer in Windows Mobile? Something as simple as limiting access to a few specified sites would be adequate. I mainly am using it as a wireless remote for my home audio distribution system. It communicates via wifi. However, I don't want this device laying around and accessible to any of my kids for accessing inappropriate web sites. All other web portals in my house are filtered or blocked. Thanks,
Marc
My Axim was purchased to be used as a remote control for my whole house audio distribution system. Therefore, it is something that I want to have "lyining around".
Set up a rule on your wireless router saying that the Axim can't access the internet. You will put the MAC address of the wireless card as the device (use vxIPconfig (link in myPDA) or something similair to get MAC address).
Is there something you could do with a hosts file?
(does ppc support host files?)

AFAIK, there's no hosts file support in Windows Mobile. It'd be easier just to lock down the router - and probably more secure, short of a hard reset on the bugger (the router, that is). At least you can lock whatever cabinet the router might be in, in theory - you can't lock up the Axim if you're using it as a remote.
I googled PPC Parental Control and came up with a lot of sites.
Here is one as starters http://www.programurl.com/software/p...l-control6.htm
It may not be right but I'm sure it will point you in the right direction.
Hope it helps.

Thanks for the tips. I found the MAC address and I put it in my MAC filter setup in my router. However, it simply appears to keep that device (Axim) from accessing the wireless access point and my network, not just internet access. I still need the Axim to be able to access my wireless and talk to my LAN so it can interact with my Netstreams audio system. I don't see an option for allowing that, while not allowing it to go outside of the LAN to the internet (but I'm a novice when it comes to wireless and networking).

My linksys switch/router allows filtering by ip address. Filtered ip's can access the local network but internet access is blocked. You'd have to assign a static ip address to your axim to get this to work assuming your router has this feature.

You don't want to MAC filter in the Wireless settings. There should be a setting a different tab, maybe something like Access Restrictions. What brand/model of router do you have? I'll walk you through it.
