Aximsitemobileicon Change install dir. on PC

I'm using my x50 with my work computer, but when I try to install utilities like BatMemTime, it's not able to because our company IT does not allow changes to the program files directory of our PCs. Is there any way to change ActiveSync's default directory, or the install files default install directory to avoid this issue? If not, can anyone recommend prepackaged utilities that I can just drop on my Axim?

You can just bypass ActiveSync installation altogether by using CAB files.

How would I get cab files of what I'm installing? I only have the .zip with .exe of batmemtime, for instance.

Actually, once you click on the .exe, a CAB file is automatically created. I can't remember exactly where it is stored (I just reformatted but I believe it's in one of the ActiveSync folders) but if it is in Documents and Settings, you can retrieve it from there. If it is in Program Files, then I guess that wouldn't work for you.

There is also another way of creating CAB files from zip files. I recall reading about it here in the forums. If I find it, I'll let you know. You might want to try a search yourself as well.

BTW, if you are not able to change the contents of your Program Files directory, how were you able to install ActiveSync?

Ok, I just Googled and found the following:

Quote:
ll of the EXE installers are self-executing ZIP files. If you want to inspect the contents or read the "readme" file before installing, just rename the file with a ".ZIP" extension and open it with any ZIP program. Inside you will find a CAB file that can also be opened with a ZIP program. The CAB file contains all installed files.
From here:

EDIT: I just tried this and it didnt' work for battmemtime. However, I did find the CAB file in the Program Files directory (in Microsoft ActiveSync) when I tried to execute it. You may have to look for some utilities that create CAB files from ZIPs.

I had IT install ActiveSync (which was a fight, but they did it), but since it tries to make a cab file in the program files directory, I get stopped right there. Thanks for your help though. I'll try to find something that'll make this work :)
