Synching Spb Finance with Quicken
I'm trying to synchronize Spb Finance with Quicken for the first time. I'm starting with a clean install of Finance. My understanding is that Spb Finance uses the *.QDF file created by Quicken for synchronization. When I specify which QDF file to use on the host synchronization program to do the synch - the program seems to go through the motions, but NO Quicken data is brought into Sbp Finance. Anyone have any pointers? Do I need to "prime the pump" by first importing a .QIF file into Finance?

You don't need to do anything special, just run through the connection wizard from Spb Finance. You didn't mention what version of Quicken you are using, there is limited support for 2006 and 2007 won't work at all. Spb just started a new support forum at http://spbdn.com that has lots of good information.

Wow - it sounds so easy when you say it. I hope I'll be thinking the same thing soon! I've been in contact with one of the Spb tech support people for several days now and no luck yet. The frustration level is rising! I know this should be super simple.
I'm using Quicken 2005, so no problem there. I just downloaded Spb Finance a few days ago, so its up to date. Not sure what you mean by the "connection wizard". I have an Spb Finance program on the host called "Options". When I run it, I get a dialog box entitled "Spb Finance Synchronization". There are 3 fields to fill in. The first is called "Quicken Location". I currently have entered:
C:\Program Files\Quicken\qw.exe
The next field is called: "Quicken file to sync with". There I have the full path name to my Quicken data file:
C:\ ...\My Documents\Quicken\QDATA.QDF
The third field is called "Quicken file password", where I've entered my Quicken password.
I put my Axim X51v in the cradle and ActiveSync does its thing. Then I run an Spb program called "Synchronize with PocketPC". When I run this program, I can see a Quicken related program icon appear in the system tray for about 10 seconds. No error messages. Then nothing. I run Spb Finance on the PPC and there's nothing there. No accounts, no transactions, nothing.
The Spb Finance tech guy is coming up emtpy handed. Any ideas?
Thanks

The options program has a second tab labeled "Filters"
This is where you would select what accounts to sync to the PDA. If you haven't selected any accounts on that tab, you'll have no data on the X51v.

One more thing to check, Open Active Sync and make sure that the checkmark beside Spb Finance is checked. I've seen it in the options, but not checked to sync. If you do what Gary said and check the accounts and the timeframe you want synced, the manual sync will work. Since the Spb icon is showing up, I think it is working but like Gary said it doesn't have any accounts to sync.

Thanks for your help. I had already selected the accounts I wanted to synchronize, and it seems the items checked in ActiveSync don't affect the manual synchronization. What finally did the trick was something that the Spb tech guy told me. Simply uninstall and reinstall the software on both the PPC and host, and do a soft reset. That's it. Synchronization is now effortless as it should be. Makes one realize how fragile these software systems can be ....
