Hubdog Navigation Prototype
Hi all,
I'm Elie Rodrigue, one of the Hubdog developper
I just posted a video on youtube of one of our navigation prototype and would really like to have your feedback on it
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m3kuVPajfkE
Please leave your comments about this prototype and about Hubdog in general
Edit :
Here's an hi res image of the current treeview and the channel explorer prototype
Keep in mind that this is an early prototype.

1. get rid of the music its rather annoying and makes me not want to watch it
2. I liked the V.1 navigation, V.2 navigation doesn`t always work and I have to resort to the action menu to get to the sections I need.
3. It still crashes randomly and was unusable on a Axim X50v with WM5 due to the amount of memory it needs so I can only use it with W2K3.
4. I can barely see whats going on in the vid because its so blurry, but navigation just seems like file explorer... and doesn`t seem like such a big deal.
5. I still use it cause for me its probably the best rss aggrigator there is despite its quirks.

What are you doing to have to resort to the action menu?
I don't know if its been long since you used v2, but in all later build, memory usage has been really lowered.
I'll post an hi-res pic of the navigation prototype..

Hi Elie,
Firstly, thanks for developing this application - I think it's terrific. Having said that, I too prefer the navigation/layout in the first version of HubDog. I'd love to continue using it (v1) however it's stopped downloading podcasts lately with plenty of storage left on my sd card
Unfortunately, the video is just too blurry to comment on your new UI. I think you were really on to something in the beginning and moved away to make it look more like other RSS readers. Pity - your previous layout looked way cooler and far more user friendly.

So what are you really missing from V1?
The way to display items? (V1 = All the items in the same page; V2 = One page per item)
The general look and feel? (V1 = Custom Menubar; V2 = Windows Menubar)
The home screen? (V1 = 5-6 Big Buttons; V2 = Treeview of your hub)
What exacts changes would make you love V2 as much as V1? help:

Sure thing. I miss the big buttons in V1 that enable you to use the program without a stylus. I miss the graphical layout of V1 (think it looked great!). Sometimes navigating within V1 was a little weird (i.e., settings were accessbile via a softbutton on some pages but not others) but overall, the look and feel of the program was great. Any idea why podcasts are not updating now with V1?
Cheers

When I try using the next and previous buttons upon opening a page, or play video channel button nothing happens, but when I use the action section in the menu it does what I need instantly, no biggie but not as functional.
With hubdog V.1 the big buttons on the main screen were the thing I liked because I let my Axim download over night, take it out of its cradle and go to work. During the commute and breaks I catch up on whats been downloaded then as soon as I come home I put it back in the cradle to download and then watch the new content... all I would need do is click 'newest video', now I have to access that in the menu.
Your new layout looks good but I would appreciate the ability to say switch from simple functions, to advance functions. For example have the main page where you can with the press of a button watch or listen to or read all the latest stuff, then have a button also there to access more advanced functions.
