Looking For School/Class/Grade Prgm..

I've tried using My Dog Ate It, and it's ok for reminders etc, but for figuring grades, gpa's it's worthless. I'm looking for something that can figure grades based on some flexibility, ie, exams are nn%, quizzes are mm %,etc. Anyone got any tips or should i just write something in excel?

Haven't used it, but you can try out 4.0 Student. They have a trial you can download to see if it does what you want.

I use 4.0 Student and it works great!

Grades can be weighted individualy by item or by type(homework or tests, nothing for quizes though)

Grading scales and weighting are independant for each class. You can also figure your GPA and "predict" your grade(what if... I get a "B" on this exam)

Does everything I want and more!:D

The Dog Ate It 2.0 came out, its made for students and is pretty good:

* Quick New Reminder Entry via the Menu
* Quick View Mode - Jump directly to a view of what is clicked
* 3 filter choices on Daily view.. Reminders, Classes, or Classes/Reminders
* Backup, Synching, and Restoring of Term Information Files
* Utility for Clean up of Old Non-Graded Reminders
* Title Bars with Line and Gradient Effect Choices
* Alternating background colors to distinguish listed items
* Choice of 5 Color Schemes
* "Smart" Scroll Bars on all Needed Views
* New Grading entry System to allow for more advanced Grading Scales
* Marking Reminders as High Priority
* Added Class Name to Task/Appointment name in Outlook synching
* Cleaner tabbed Configuration settings
* Many other user interface and feature Touch-Ups

give it a look.

Does anyone know if these programs let you put other grades than American-style grades? Like in my country, the grades go from 1-6 and then it's just the average, so if I get stuck with a A-F system, I'll be screwed.

Question Application to Manage Students' Grades

It appears that most of the applications suggested are intended to track one's own grades. I am looking for an application that I can use (as a teacher) to keep track of grades of my students - perhaps two classes per quarter or semester with an average of 20 students in each. It would even be better if there is a corresponding desktop version.

I want to have the following features:

Keep track of students' names
Assign percentages to each assignment and keep track of grades
Not so important - keep track of attendance

Anything like this out there for PPC?

I just wish one of these programs would integrate with the built in Calendar. Having two seperate calendars is silly. It would also be nice if assignments/tests were displayed on the Today screen. Although these programs are very handy, I'll hold off until one of these developers offers the mentioned features.

Have you tried The dog ate homework one? it says it integrates with outlook, I think I'm going to install it right now and I'll let you all know how it works.

After testing it very briefly since I'm not taking any classes until August, I got an idea of what this program is.

It does let you export to either calendar or tasks. you choose whether or not you want an assignment exported. This is actually kind of handy because if every assignment was in your tasks than it would get quite cluttered, I like keeping my school life separate from my regular life and this does the job well.

Sorry for the reply to an old topic but here is what I do with my ax for grades. I teach HS biology btw.

I use easy grade pro as my desktop grading program. This program can output .xls files. So I put those on my ax an then during parent meetings I can show the parents the current grade. EasyGarde actually can link to plams so you can walk around the class and check off students (attendance for example.) and then when you sync it is all there. They have not made a ppc version yet..........argggh.
