MxCalc 12c & SE - Bad News

Just a warning to anyone who might venture trying MxCalc 12c and MxCalc SE as I did. They are really poorly written calculators.

I tried them out this weekend on my Axim X51v PocketPC and had multiple problems with both of them. I tried SE first which claims to have various conversion capabilities. My Axim locked up several times when trying to use a few of the conversion calculators, especially for the currency conversions. After many tries, I even reinstalled the software but to no avail.

When I tried out the 12c calculator, which claims to emulate the renowned HP 12c, I found there were three "n" keys (there's only supposed to be one). Needless to say, I contacted the online store (Kagi) and the software vendor (3grtech) and requested an immediate refund.

Just another note, the Kagi store where I purchased these two calculators was absolutely horrible as an online commerce site. I've not seen many online stores that worked this poorly.

I have not used nor tried those calculators, so cannot comment on them, but am sorry for your experience. I picked up the Lygea Super Bundle of 12C, 15C, and 16C. There are updated versions, but I still run the older versions, so that is the link I had available. The graphics on the updated versions are much better than those on the older versions I run, though.

Thanks

I think I'll give Lygea's Pocket 12C SE Financial Calculator version 1.61 a try.

Maybe I'll have better luck with it.

Thanks for the tip!

Thanks for the heads up - You might consider calc98 as an alternatve - Free and exceptionally good. :approve:

Looked At Pocket 12C SE & Calc98

I looked at both Pocket 12C SE and Calc98. Went ahead and purchased Pocket 12C SE and tested. Smooth install and operation thus far. Looks like a winner. Thanks again for the suggestion.

I also took a look at Calc98 per the other suggestion, but it's look and feel are not the same as the HP 12C. I need a 12C clone as I use it for work in the real estate appraisal industry. It is the standard in the industry and all in my office use it as well. To show a co-worker my calculations on something else would make things more difficult for all concerned. Thanks though, I really appreciate the feedback and additional possibility.

Again, thanks to all!!! This is a great forum.
