I've loved and used FairUse LE for a good long while now since, despite how long it takes (almost the length of whatever it is your encoding, at least on my machine), because the quality was always fantastic.
Then our IT guy at work gave me a copy of Nero 7.5. Using the Nero Recode I was able to encode the same movie it took FairUse 2 hours to do (at high quality, two pass, 300MB output file) but it only took 21 minutes!

And the quality is gorgeous!!

One catch -- I can't seem to get it to encode the subtitles, which was very easy to do with FairUse.

And of course, FairUse LE is free.
But if anyone already has the latest version of Nero (NOT 7.0 cause I looked in some forums and apparently the MP4 converter had a lot of bugs in that version) definitely give it a try, I don't think you'll be disappointed. Cheers:)
