(Hopefully last) Update:

Well, I resorted to a hard reset, then restored from a week-old backup, the last one that ran automatically as it was supposed to. It has now backed up 2 nights in a row, so it feels fixed. I'm guessing that something in the registry or elsewhere was messed up, and the restore undid it.

I've disabled my password and was using SK Tools backup for over a month now.

I ran into situation you described every time my Axim was not in the cradle. I assume this is by design ?

When it's cradled overnight, it would back up but then I have to wake it up after backup, at which time it shows me SK Tools logo for about 20-30 sec then loads up the Today screen. Not too shabby, even though I'd prefer it go to Today automatically.

All in all, I think it's been very good so far, way to go SK ! (especially considering the cost and benefits of SK Tools vs Sprite.)

I only wish it allowed to do selective automatic backups. The CashOrganizer database on my device takes the longest time to back up and it's redundant since CO backs up itself every time I close it. I wish I could exlcude it.
