SMTP relayer to install in my Desktop to be able to send EMAIL from my PPC! Help!

Hi!

I want to do just that...

I currently use a SMTP provider that, for it to authorize the sendings, needs to be connected from within the same network. So when I'm out and about with my PDA over bluetooth / gprs connection or over Wi-Fi, I can't use that SMTP since I don't get authorized and the sending gets rejected.

I did this some time ago... now I've forgotten which app I installed . I deleted it because I hardly sent more than 1 mail p/week using that account... but now, I'd be really needing to access it!

So the idea is to install this desktop application (in my Windows XP) and leave it running there as a server. Then, from my PDA I would connect to my desktop computer (simulating an SMTP) and the server in my desktop will only route it through the SMTP I need authorization on; such as if I was manually sending it from my PC.

This should be very simple... I mean, not installing IIS (for example) to do this; the smaller the app, the better. I'd be needing the smallest footprint on my system possible.

Please... let me know some app of this kind, would you? Thank you very much in advance!!! :approve:

Just set the email account on you Ax to authorise.

In the settings of your email account is a box to tic saying

Outgoing Mail requires authentication.

And if is different to your log in you can add those setting underneath.

Ehmm Box... not that's not the only authorization that I was referring to...

As I said... the SMTP also validates for the relay to be generated FROM WITHIN the same network... it's not only about user/pass validation sadly...

So that's why I needed to send it to my home, and from there it gets relayed to the SMTP (cause it's connected to the same network)

Use a different outgoing server. Or are you using STP verification? If so, then you will be stuck without writing a gateway script. Do you have access to a linux server?

Nope... no linux...

As I said; I've done it before, I just don't remember with which app! All I know is that it was very small. In any case, what I need to acomplish is really really easy, here it is detailed:

1) I connect my PDA over WiFi / GPRS / whatever external from my home
2) My Desktop, which is on 24/7 is running this SMTP RELAYER
3) I have configured in Pocket Outlook, as a SMTP, my Home Desktop (which I already have a static IP)
4) I send mail over to my home... it, instead of dispatching it over to the WWW on it's own, it RELAYS to the SMTP I'm trying to access to. EXACTLY as if I was sitting in my home computer, opened outlook and sent a mail using that external SMTP. The only thing is that this relayer acts as the SMTP 'engine' that would connect to that external SMTP and send

As you can see... it's easily acomplished and pretty simple... the saddest thing is that I don't remember what app I used; tried searching many many terms but couldn't find nothing...

THanks.

Here is Mercury from David Harris (Pegasus Mail) I've used this in the past and it is fast, easy and small. Enjoy!

Thanks drowe but the app is crap! Installed in 2 different machines and neither opened it when trying... it just go into a loop; open/closes...

Also, it asks 10000zillion question (not that I didn't know what to choose, only saying it bothers WAY too much!) when installing, plus it doesn't include an uninstaller... it has all the elements needed to call it CRAP! :)

Any other?

Thanks.
