Cascading menu program?
I have a ton of documents that are arranged via folder. (/Cardiac /Renal, etc...) I need fast access to these documents. They're in shortcut form in a bunch of folders.
Before I begin, I already know about Smallmenu & programmenu. These are EXACTLY the type of programs that I want. Smallmenu, especially, is remarkably written. It's plain, simple, yet effective because of its cascading menus.
The only reason I'm avoiding using it is because I am constantly getting screen corruption when I open menus (even after a hard reset)
I've been unable to find any other decent program like it. Does anyone know of an alternative, ANY alternative?

I've always heard that Wisbar is bloaty software and slows down the PC. I think I tried it once and didn't like it. I didn't think there was a trial for it
update: yes, there is a trial on PocketGear. I'll give it a try.
Any other suggestions are definitely welcome!

Try Wisbar Lite - keep the Cascading Menu without the skinning code that 'slows it down' on some machines.

I tried Wisbar Adv 2 and while I think it's a decent program for some, I don't really like having 2 layers of themes. My own custom .tsk file I made (all black) is my favorite solution.
Hi guys,
I just tried Wisbar Lite. It's actually task manager and not what I'm looking for.
I guess SmallMenu is my only choice. :(

Not exactly a cascading menu, and not freeware, but iLauncher might help. The task manager function presents a cascading menu of all the tabs, which are shortcuts and they can are nested. I have a about ten tabs and it is very easy to get to any one of them. Give it a try.
If you are using wm5, you can also use wm5newmenu (freeware) to emulate the new softkey and it has cascading menus that you can program to the softkey space.

I found this program and if it wasn't so premature, buggy and allowed for, it would be EXACTLY what I'm looking for. :(

What device are you using? This is for smartphones, and I don't think it will work for ppc because they don't have the soft buttons to begin with, unless they are running Windows 5. If you are running windows5 then as state wm5newmenu will give you that functionality.

You sure you used Wisbar Lite?

To quote the feature list...

# Customize the closing, hiding and minimization of applications.
# Cascading start menu.
# Real close button.
# Switch between running applications.
# Real-time battery meter.
# Low memory footprint.
# Retains the default theme of your PocketPC device.
|
That's what you wanted, is it not? If it isn't working right, have you checked the settings to be sure that 'Show Cascading Menu Icons' is checked?

They have a PPC version. I used it, but it seems buggy and it's the same problem as SmallMenu-- there's no option to disable icons -- so I get screen corruption.
So far, SmallMenu has been nearly 99% of what I want. I just want to be able to:
1) Disable icons
2) (other: change color of text & background)
3) (other: change size of text)
I've already sent emails about the font & color, but the author responded that I could do this system-wide, which really didn't help.

I'll give this a shot
Yes, it was Wisbar Lite. I know you mentioned cascading, and I know I'm being a little picky, but I didn't want a cascading start menu -- just a menu. Plus, the start menu cascading was really choppy on my X51v WM5

I'm going to try this. I could've sworn I tried this out before, but I'll check.

WM5 NewMenu didn't cut it
1)I have to add each shortcut manually; I've got a ton of ducments I have to add
2) It is very slow in opening - godawful slow in fact
Overall, it seems like a decent utility for a "new" menu, but for my purpose it won't work well.
