Clearing program memory?

I am running MemMaid 1.72 on a Sprint Treo 700wx.

After a soft reset when I use the MemMaid Tools->Device Info it shows about 28% of the Program Memory being used. After about two days that number has gone up to about 90% and the Treo becomes slow and unstable.

I have tried closing all running programs and using MemMaid to clean memory, but none of those things seem to free up the Program Memory.

My solution is simply to do a soft reset every day, but I would prefer to find and fix the problem. I assume some program I have installed has a memory leak, or simply is storing lots of data.

Is there any way to configure MemMaid to clean up that memory space? If not, is there any way to see which program is using up the memory?

There are some programs out there that would clean out more memory than MemMaid. e.g. sktool. There's another free one, can't remember the name, but has an awful icon that can clean pretty good.
However,
These are just temp solutions because it will never give you back all the memory.
So, you need to hunt down which program(s) is giving you the leak.
Do you have a program (e.g. magic button) that would actually close your program instead of just "minimize them"?
If you do, then you want to look at you today's plugins, what do you have there?
Hope this helps, it's going to be a lot of work.

Yes, hunting down the bad program is too much work. I would have to delete one at a time, or install one at a time, until the problem stops. Much easier to reboot once a day.

I was hoping to save time by finding out which program is "growing" in memory. But I don't see any way to do that. When I use the MemMaid Process View all the programs look normal - nothing is using a huge amount of memory.

I do use SPB Pocket Plus to close programs properly instead of just minimizing them when I press the X button.

if you use sktools... even the semi-limited free version... it has a 'free up memory' exe that once run will clear up ram, I have known it to clear up about 2-3MBs of ram when I have used it after closing about 3 softwares I ran and used at once. I never normally leave it a week before I use it, I do run it atleast once a day, it does save soft resets.

Try uninstalling the heavy today plugins, it adds a load on the device in terms of memory and battery.

To check whether a program is always running is leaking memory, in MemMaid go to the last tab (Running Processes).

On soft-reset, visit that tab and note down the running programs and their memory usage.
then when the device gets slow and low on memory, visit the same tab again and look for major differences, and this should point out to the program taking your memory.

Note: MemMaid 1.73 is already out and it is free upgrade.
