Hello folks..hope you are as excited as I am about the new Dell AXIM...just got mine january 3rd...I am a desktop person so I am having to do some adjustment and I need some work arounds....

I have a mobile business so I am trying to use the Contacts database on my desktop and syncing to the PDA..works great but I need sub folders and I want to store the subfolders or thje whole contacts database on a secure data card....I can create the subfolder on Outlook 2000..no problemo..but getting syncing is apparently not supported by the OS...I have tried Informant thought it was to problematic and complicated...it makes duplicate entries and stuff I want to avoid...I have a call into intellisync about their product. In the meantime I am exploring surely someone else has solved this issue...I could create an Access database to and use ABCDdatabase to solve the I think...any suggestions....BTW pocket streets is just terrific on this thing..I store the maps on the securew data card..the only caevet is the export files size of the maps but I contacted Micro$oft and a tech tried out Pocket Streets 2003...he thinks the files size can be as large as 2 megs..thats an improvement...I was really hopeing they would create a product that would like export by counties like the census data maps...BTW the DeLorme mapping is a joke.....

Anyway I am awaiting your response...and I am excited about my AXIM....

When you open contacts on the axim, there's a drop-down list at the top for groups. Can you not use this for a subfolder effect?

I appreciate your response but I understand catagories and yes they do help but consider the problem from angle...I have three PDA's with contacts on all.....I have a master list of contacts....some business...some personal...I don't want employees to have my personal information....What I really need is seperate contact folder i.e. business..personal...etc... and the ability to place the database on a secure data card so all I have to do is distribute to the employee 64meg secure data card with the information they need to do their job......COOOOOOOL Huh....

Thanks,

Take a look at Outlook PCS which is a M$ add-in to Outlook. It may just meet your needs.

I don't know of any automated method for doing what you want.

Here's the problem: the PPC stores all contacts in a single property database in the object store. It doesn't matter whether they are categorized or not. Also, I believe the object store must reside in RAM.

This program does not install properly on my machine, as it did not add the icon on the toolbar, or has added a tab to the properties of any of my contacts folders???

Are there any other programs like this that actually work?
