I need a file encrypter!!

I'm looking for a software that is not expensive on memory but can lock up my files. I looked into resco explorer but i think that will eat up to much of my memory. I'm trying to conserve as much as possilbe.

Any suggestions would be great!!! thanks!!!!

There's a freeware program called CCrryyppttoo that can encrypt files one at a time (http://www.hfrmobile.com/app_CCrryyppttoo_T1/index.htm). Doesn't take up much memory if I recall correctly.

If you're willing to spend the money (and believe me it's a good investment) get Resco Explorer. It will encrypt files on both your Pocket PC and your Desktop. Besides that, there are so many other features, it really does everything you need (except you can't edit files in binary :() in a file explorer.

I just loaded FreeOTFE, works great. You can encrypt a folder or a drive.

Hi Andy, I got the impression that Kenjari seemed to feel that the memory footprint of Resco was a problem and was looking for a small, efficient ( as in bytes) program

Yes, but i think he was overstating the problem. It doesn't take up large amounts of space and can be installed to a card

Pocket Secure has a nice feature that will encrypt multiple files at shut down and decrypt the files with one pass word at start up. I have mixed feelings about the program but it is worth a try.

: Thanks for the reply everyone. In all honesty i havent tried resco explorer. I just assume that it would eat up some ram despite the installation to a SD Card. So i will take your advice and give it a try.

Thanks for the link up above.

I did try pockect secure and it kept freezing my axim Couldnt figure that one out. It did seem like a good program.

Again thanks for the reply.....will post if resco expl works for me.

Fantastic program if you want to encrypt notes (that are written within Tombo). Does it have other security features ? I'll have to find the latest version !!

The files can be written anywhere with any program - but must be place in \tomboroot to be cryptofied
You may choose to en/decrypt selected files only
I have mine placed in a memory key because I travel a bit.

The latest Tombo versions can be found here (beta) and here (v.1.17)

Don't forget to download the PC version also.
See the reason here

Pocket Secure freezing up your Axim? Hmm... Strange! I have an x50v & x51v and most testing has been on them. Did you have it installed to main memory?

I also use FreeOTFE.
The issues I have with other file encryptor is that you can see the filename, and what type of file it is. (much like winzip, and you can open the winzip and see what the file is). Also, most ppc encryptor only encrypt one file a a time, which makes decryption of a entire directory difficult (and slow).
I'm a bit anal about people seeing a filename that is encrypted, this tells them how bad they want to hack that file... (e.g. if a file name is password.doc, pretty good chance that file contains some interesting material, and hacker would focus on that file more).

Another thing is, the encryptor must use more than just numbers... that's another of my "thing" :)

That's my 2 cents
