I use SPB Finance and sync with QUicken. I think it's great. The report function is an added bonus, which allows you to look at everything from where you're spending money, your budget and chart your net worth. My only complaint has been with the latest revision -- it wasn't registering my data properly on my X51 so I had to uninstall and roll back to the previous version.
I use Spb Finance and am very happy with it. I had a real stumper of a problem with the transaction balance not matching the running balance. Spb was very willing to help troubleshoot the issue, which turned out to be a setting.
In a recent survey in a PDA magazine SPB finance is ranked 33 in the top 50 of all PDA programs including Palm. It is the top Finance program according to the survey. Magazine comment "Flexible enough to be able to keep a running check on a small business but ideally suited to personal use".
Thanks for the info. I am finally starting to get a chance to play with it some more-i really need to check the various features and stuff but I liked the easy input. There were a few things I would like but it might be just i havne't gotten used to it and I would need to adapt some of how I track things nowto fit their stuff. My goal is to play this weekend some more, then try the same things next week with Webis Money to see how it matches up.
Really appreciating the feedback all.
Does anyone know if either program has an option to input bills that are upcoming so they show someplace but aren't auto deducted til I say so?
I was looking for some sort of Bills monthly list program last week but didn't really find anything that was exactly what I was looking for and I wondered if maybe there is something in one of these programs that might be helpful.
I own SPB Finance and PocketBreeze. The Today screen plugin will work in PB... sort of. I've found that the formatting of the columns is a bit off and sometimes clips some of the text off.
Having said that, I went through this same software search a while back and ultimately settled on SPB Finance. It can sync budgets, something that none of the other options could do. I know syncing isn't your cup of tea, but that was a big deal for me. Beyond that, SPB Finance offers some pretty impressive reporting features that approach what I have on my desktop finance softare.. I recommend it completely.

I use scheduled transactions in SPB Finance for this.
There is an option to "Enter automatically" or "Remind me". For automatic deductions, I set the transaction to "Reconciled" and to "Enter automatically". For bills I have to make payment, I set the transaction to -not- reconciled and "Remind me" These show up in SPB Diary.
You can view the scheduled transactions and decide to enter the next transaction or skip it etc. Not being one to read manuals, I actually missed the pop up menu early on -.-'
If the bills aren't a fixed amount and/or fixed dates, I just key them in as I receive the bill with the date set as the due date. Then when I review my account daily, I can plan to pay them as the date looms closer.
A budgeting account should provide for accruals and prepayments (Accounting speak) if it is to be used for financial planning which is what SPB finance is trying to sell, in addition to the customary bookkeeping i.e, keeping records of transactions (historical element).

That sounds like what I am thinking-I will have to try those settings myself this weekend....I guess I SHOULD go read the manual....
SPB has a great set of features, however if you think you may need to sync to MS Money at any time in the future perhaps you should take a second look at CashOrg - this is how I ended up with it, SPB sync was just too unreliable.
They both have a today plugin, a quick entry dialog, custom reports etc. The only real difference, feature wise, that I noticed when I looked at SPB the last time was the ability to see your investment transactions (but not edit them or enter new ones).
I actually own WebIS Money and Spb Finance. I also have Quicken XG 2005 installed in my system.
WebIS was great as a very simple and basic tracker, but I eventually got frustrated with it when all my dates were always off by a day. It was also very picky in the date format. If you did not select the proper format to sync your data with, the date it showed was inaccurate (some weird far off date... can't remember). I pretty much unistalled this and went with Spb Finance.
Spb Finance is much better in terms of options and functions. But I still have problems with it syncing with Quicken. I can export stuff to my x51v without any problems, but I can't import stuff in. Any transactions made in my x51v doesn't show up in Quicken, so I end up key entering again or downloading from my banking institution. It's not a big problem for me as I sync everyday and do maybe 1-2 transactions a week on the fly. I leave all scheduling to Quicken as I have well over 20+ transactions that I keep track of in a month. I've never tried the scheduler on Spb Finance and don't really want to. I only have my main personal accounts (that I use on a normal daily basis) with me on Spb Finance. All my investments and other accounts stay on my desktop (no need to lug around data I don't really need to view on a regular basis). Overall I'm much happier with Spb Finance than WebIS Money.
Edit: Quicken XG uses qdf files, not qif. It can, however, import/export to qif. I wonder if that's why I constantly have problems importing data from Spb Finance.

Just wanted to report that I ended up deciding on SPB Finance-overall even though the cost was more than Webis, with the 20% return customer discount it wasn't too bad and it looks like it will have more functionality. Of to do some reading and setting it up!
Has anyone tried the latest Pocket Quicken? I use Quicken 2007 and I think the only program that will sync with Quicken 2007 is Pocket Quicken. I know SPB Finance doesn't work with Quicken 2007 - and may never according to their website.
