Yeah thanks for the testing Haesslich. Although your recommended settings certainly improved things I still suffered stuttering and then Opera seemed to crash. If it is just me so be it but if their is a majority having issues we really should inform Opera as they advertise the product as supporting Flash 7. The Flash support may be inferred to something else but my specific use would be streaming such as youtube.

Just out of interest can there be conflicts between browsers i.e. mie and opera ? is it possible to uninstall mie ?

Just another quicky. If you have enough text in the site "quick reply" box at the bottom of this page, to have the scroll bar appear does anyone else see it doesnt work properly. I try to move it and find that its only the browser scroll bar that will move ? notably the two scroll bars are quite close.

P.S Posting on x51v - opera - 100% zoom - fit to page.

Opera Mobile 8.65 beta out!

First, the first public beta of without doubt the best Windows Mobile Web browser, Opera Mobile, has just been released and is available for download here.
For anyone also using a Smartphone WM5 edition note the "SP" file there too!! :)

It IS on their site, if you click on 'Get Opera Mobile' on the front page.

AlbaJoe - the only thing that doesn't stutter is the sound; video stutters no matter what, but at 50% zoom it's less likely to crash the browser than at 75%, if the clip's bigger than 2-3MB. I've seen it dump 6MB files into the Application Data/Volatile area, and trying to play those at 75% zoom seems to cause the program to exit due to a lack of memory or something.

Update: just ran a 9 min clip off YouTube at 50% zoon with Fit to Screen on, much stuttering of sound and video, but it ran. To show the video controls, hold-click the YouTube clip, then select Show All. Cache was relocated to SD card andset to 6MB size.

I am having the exact same problem -- on my Axim X51v, previously running 8.60, after installing 8.65b, the address bar and various other things are in wingdings or some other crazy font. Since there really aren't many posts in the official Opera reporting thread -- and at least 3 people have reported this problem -- I'm guessing it is fairly widespread.

Any ideas/suggestions? I have tried completely uninstalling Opera, including cleaning the registry of any traces that I could find, and reinstalling from the 8.65b MSI with no luck -- same results.

Thanks!

I got a hold of the 8.65 beta version for my PPC prior to it being released (it was up once before) so I don't know if I have another version?

Are you using some other language than english, for anything on your PPC?

I just got mine today -- downloaded 8.65b from the Opera FTP site.

No, nothing that I know of at all. And 8.60 was working fine just before I put 8.65 beta on. And, if I reinstall 8.60 instead, it again works fine. It seems very specific to 8.65 beta.

Did you try to reinstall the 8.65 again? Have a screenshot of the problem?

Yes. Both as an "upgrade" to the installed 8.60 and also uninstalling everything and just doing a brand new 8.65b.

No, but I'd be happy to take one -- recommend an app?

I'm not an expert on the apps for that, try searching on here!

But for both Opera, when I view long html pages, as I scroll, garbage text will start to appear. (the previous text not cleared from screen, new text is comes over it!)

Anything, what I can do about it?

thanks... I hope this is not too much to ask of Opera.
One thing you can do about it is use NetFront 3.3. It's not quite as fast as Opera, but just as full featured and with no display issues on the X50v. Now that being said, if Opera would fix the screen tearing, I would buy it in a heartbeat :|.

Ok -- here is a screenshot of the problem that several of us have been having with the 8.65 beta:

That is exactly what I see when I start Opera for the first time. Note the wingding-like font in the address bar and also on the button.

On a side note, where did my proxy settings options go? They appear to be missing in 8.65 beta...

I have an x50v and the same tearing issue. Unfortunately, I didn't discover it until after I purchased 8.60. 8.65b does the same thing. I'm trying Netfront 3.3 right now which seems great but I hate their upgrade policy. I paid for 3.0, paid the upgrade price for 3.1 and now if I want 3.3 it's another $15. It's getting pricey but 3.3 is the first vga version that works on an x50v.
