I had skipped 8.60, therefore I was used to fiddle with the opera.ini file for enabling/disabling my proxy and everything was working absolutely fine.

After upgrading, I copied the proxy settings in the opera.ini file of the 8.65 version.
Then I started surfing and got the usual proxy login screen. Everything seems fine, but... now I am not surfing through the proxy!
I login in the proxy, but it is like it is a fake... surfing is not through the proxy! :rolling:

Anyone can shade some light? Should we put things differently from the past in the opera.ini?

I desperately need the proxy, since it helps a lot surfing through the mobile phone and I followed the fantastic guide by ... (Menneisyys again?) about reducing bandwidth cost with full satisfaction till now.

Axim X50v
Opera 8.65b for wm2003.
Moved the files (not all of them) from Main memory/Application Data to SD card as explained time ago for the first Opera version to save memory (could this cause the subtle problem?).

Thank you for any help!

Sneezie

I answer myself and for everybody. I found it on the Opera website forums:

http://my.opera.com/community/forums....dml?id=183702

It works like a charm (and it is more convenient than opera.ini swapping)!

I tell it to myself again: search better before posting!

Menneisyys, you have such an great influence in the circle of Windows Mobile arena, wonder if you can help to use your influence to bring the issue to Opera. Anyway, do you have any idea what is the root of the problem?

This would be really benefit those in x50v wm2003se at aximsite that paid for their Opera!
Anyway Opera is supposely designed to work for wm2003 as well, thus they may be willing to fix just that they are not be aware of the problem.

Arigato!

It IS on their site, if you click on 'Get Opera Mobile' on the front page.

AlbaJoe - the only thing that doesn't stutter is the sound; video stutters no matter what, but at 50% zoom it's less likely to crash the browser than at 75%, if the clip's bigger than 2-3MB. I've seen it dump 6MB files into the Application Data/Volatile area, and trying to play those at 75% zoom seems to cause the program to exit due to a lack of memory or something.

Update: just ran a 9 min clip off YouTube at 50% zoon with Fit to Screen on, much stuttering of sound and video, but it ran. To show the video controls, hold-click the YouTube clip, then select Show All. Cache was relocated to SD card andset to 6MB size.
yes I would think there is nothing we can really do to improve the stream. I think thats what Menny proved running it on a fresh AX. Hopefully the development chaps at Opera will address it properly although I doubt there will be much they can do.

Has anyone else noticed problems with selecting text and the slide bars I mentioned earlier ? must mention that I am in qvga mode.

I also assume you are using a touch screen device.
Make sure you check your settings "Misc" and uncheck "Grab and Scroll".
(It is a trade off feature)

That should remedy the issue. :approve:

Yup, this is a Flash issue - the plug-in is just plain slow. It's given me the same (slow, stuttering) results when playing back a local Flash video (see my Flash Bible for more info if interested).

They are aware of this mostly x50v-related problem (I haven't ever encountered it on other WM2003(SE) devices of mine). Dunno why they don't fix it or whether it will be fixed some time.

Bump. Any news on this wing-dings problem that myself and yevgenie are having? I'm finding out people on the Opera forums with it, but no one seems to know why!

Are other X51v users using Opera 8.65b successfully?

- John...

.
It's a problem due to a conflict with MS reader apparently.. I think there may be a work around, but I did a hard reset instead and didn't re-install reader

Enabling Cookies in Opera 8.65 (on x51v)

Hello, is that a known problem with Opera 8.65? I tried to access
my company's webmail (with https://) but application complained
that cookies are not enabled.

I looked at the "tools" available on Opera, none of them seemed
to offer such a function. Am I missing some patch that I need to
download, or I just look at the wrong places?

Thanks,
Raymond

Opera 8.65 does support https. I occasionally use it to visit chase and mcu. I am able to log on and make transfers etc.

I am also able access Yahoo and Live (hotmail) which uses https.

It seems you will need to speak to your system administrator.
