I posted that I had to do a hard reset and my backup software failed, so i did a manual reinstall last night.

No major problems except an inability to apply an icon to an event in Pocket Informant. I see and click on the icon, but then, I get to see the error message listed below. I can perform all other functions without a problem.
I've seen other postings about this phenomena, but now, after downlaoding revision 3, I actually get an error message. I think that it is a Windows Mobile error, but that's why I'm posting this thread, so here is what it says:

Error:
Set Props E_InvalidARG

Then, after i click on that message, I get a message about generating a Windows error report about: PIM Connectivity.exe

Can anyone lead me towards an interpretation and a remedy?

It sounds like you might have some type of sofware conflict. Have you looked over at WebIS forums?
