Ok, everything you say is correct; but why worry about multiple tables? If I understand the requirement correctly, you want a simple database of hyperlinks to jpeg files. If you already have the information it should be a simple matter to transfer it to a decent application (I'll have to research that) - the bells and whistles are not required.

The real problem is whether the db can cope with true hyperlinks (something else I'll look into).

I agree, Thanks for that. I think I need to think about it and see if I can get a DB to get it working. I started writing what I see as the problems but I'm too tired now to think about it. This is as far as I got.

As I see it, the custom db that I am using is reading data from all over the place. When I try to select the various columns etc I end up getting the wrong Data. For example If I select "Ship Name" which shows as Liberty of the Seas it will give me "A6523876549id".

More to the point: what's wrong with a simple file explorer?

Stick the pictures in a folder on the Axim (or a card) and read the database using the picture viewer Open File function Isn't that what we're trying to acheive?

Yep, but people like to be able to click on something and it opens the image. It's not for me. It's for people who ask "what's a soft reset".

So, give them a copy of resco Picture Viewer (configured to open the same folder at start up) that opens in thumbnail view. They tap the thumbnail that they want to look at and it opens for them.

What's nice about that solution is that the user doesn't have to interpret the file name to decide whether or not to open it: they simply look at the picture and decide if it is the right one. Very intuitive!

Jogga, you I know that, and most of the people here as well, but unfortunately I'm talking about people who, to put it politely
"Can't find their own Bum with Both hands and a Hunting dog"
I better sleep now, I still have to work tomorrow, in fact in 5 and a half hours.
Thanks again.

1) Support for hyperlinks has improved in version 2.02.
You can either use the hyperlink function in a cell (this method is preferred when the target of the link is variable rather than fixed), e.g.:
=HYPERLINK("c:\my documents\my pictures\bdl_logo.jpg","display the logo")
or you can select one or more cells and use the Insert > Hyperlink menu option to specify a file to link to, e.g.:
c:\my documents\img.jpg

2) Jpeg (and other format) images that have been inserted into a document using the desktop version of Microsoft Excel should be displayed correctly by SpreadCE, however I haven't included an Insert > Picture menu option in SpreadCE yet.
