Music Notation Editor and Sequencer?

Does any one know of a workable music notation editor for WM5 that is 4 to 8 (12 would be great) note polyphonic and really usable for transcribing musical ideas on the fly. Multi-tambral would be nice too. Notation is the main thing. I can hear it in my head. I prefer to use real notation and not alternative tableture. Adding cord notation and lyrics is a plus. Export to midi file is nice. I have seen midiNote but the reviews of that are poor and it sounds like it is not very usable for more than single line work and even that is not very effective. I do not want a toy. Other suggestions would be appreciated.

The atari emulators are out there and the old steinberg atari programs were very good, "Pro24" and "C-Lab". Has anyone tried this out. Midi would be a problem I am sure. Then there is the problem of making it work with the PPC sound card etc.

Is there any way to midi in/out to the PPC to use it as a synquencer for keyboards etc.

I have been out of the music thing for a while but, I get ideas now and then and would like to jot them down while I travel. Help me get up to speed.

There is a great compositor for Pocket PC Called MidNote.

MidNote is a program that lets you easily write and play great music, using standard music (staff) notation for graphical input and display. Notes, rests, etc. are entered using drag-and-drop of the elements from the toolbox on the bottom. Once dropped into the staff, they can still be modified (pitch, duration, etc.) or deleted. For block operations there are many edit functions available.

Enter music with fully graphical editor
Each piece can have up to 10 separate tracks.
Six octave tonal range (or 15 with tricks :-)
Musical edit functions like transpose and mirror
Full drum support
Standard MIDI import and export
Polyphonic play through integrated MIDI player (GSPlayer, Mimidi or PocketAMP)
MidNote is easy to use, and no musical knowledge is necessary (though knowledge never hurts :-)

CastCE will run Atari ST programs. I used to use Pro-24 and Notator. Those were fantastic programs. Is CastCE able to play midi files? I am sure (I think) that it would not support in/out/thru but if it can play and write midifiles that would be ideal. I have found old Atari Sequencer and Notation software for about $30 or free. The problem is also that Pro-24 and Notator required a dongle to work. Perhaps that could be worked around with a dump of the dongle (somehow). I have found protrax for free. Not bad. But it does not have a notation portion--only grid editing. Any one know about midi capability and CastCE?
