Audible.com and MS Reader 2.2.2

For those of you who use the MS Reader to listen to your audiobooks from Audible.com: the new version of MS Reader (2.2.2) on PPC 2002 does not correctly support Audible Format 3. The playback hesitates every second or two.

Your choices are: redownload the books in Audible Format 2 or use the Audible Player for the Pocket PC.

I do not know whether this limitation will persist in PPC 2003.

I have both programs in use (msreader 2.2.2 and Audible). When I open msreader and play a book previously downloaded and used with audible an audible style window opens and plays just fine in msreader. No problems.

I'm having the same problem. But I discovered you can continue to use the old MS Reader in ROM for Audible books and use the new version for the free MS titles.

I'm disappointed in this release from Microsoft -- I had hoped they would have tested the product more thoroughly.

Microsoft pointed the finger back at Audible: "....The Audible library plugin is a third party program which is fully controlled by Audible."

I've also communicated my findings to Audible. They are going to test 2003 to see if the problem exists with that version as well.

Now for the dumb question. How do I open the rom version of Reader vs. the new one? Where does this second program shortcut point?

Thanks in advance for the info.

(If you can copy the shortcut and email it to me... even better!)

mtb, the MS Reader item in my menu was still pointing to the old version. If you don't have that, you can make a shortcut in the File Explorer and point it to: \WIndows\msreader.exe
