Loading PDF files

hey everyone, I'd like to load a PDF file that I use on my laptop onto my Axim. I put the file on there but for some reason I keep getting an error message. Say's it can't read the file.

suggestions?:rolling:

Just to make sure....have you downloaded and installed Adobe Acrobat Reader for PocketPC on your Axim?

Yeah sure did. Not sure I did it right... but I did it. I can read other files on PDF but for some reason this one isn't capable of being opened by the program on the Ax. The file is relatively large and I may need to put it on the SD or CF to give it room to breath. I'll reload it tonight and give you the exact error message. Thanks.

I have the same problem, I think that certian pdf's must not convert very succesfully. Im not very familiar with how the conversion process works, but I would suspect that there are some graphics or something that just dont translate, consiquently killing the whole thing

Wonder if there is tech support for Adobe that I might be able to call. This is a pretty important document that it would save me a lot of effort if I could carry it on my Ax instead of lugging the actual book!

Ok.. the actual error message is this:

Acrobat Reader There is an error opening this document. File does not begin with %PDF-

Can't figure out what that means actually. Do I need to change the file name?

make sure you load it onto your Axim via Activesync.

I've moved to Repligo to view my PDFs. Its just way to hard to use Adobe's solution to view most PDFs.

Why don't you just confert the file to the ms e-book format?
It worked great for me.

Hadnt had any problems with Acrobat up until now, so I cannt really help you, but it seems to me that the problem lies with the file, not the Reader.....make sure you can read it in different versions of AR, and see if the "converted" file can be opened through the Browser of the ActiveSync ;)

Thats a great observation TheAce. The issue does deal with the file and not the app. That is why PDFs are such a pain, they are not designed to be used on a PDA unless the maker of the pdf plans for it. Repligo and other such formats are designed for PDAs. Lit is a good choice, but if you go from PDF to lit, you lose all the images. That is why Replligo is a better solution IMO.

ok.. thanks for the info... how do I add repligo to the mix... I can open the file on my laptop, I can read it there with no problems, just doesn't work on the pda. So converting it is probably a simple task, just where does a simple tasker start... I"ll go play with it now... thanks.

Repligo is as easy as printing. The only problem you will run into is if they PDF has disabled printing. In that case you have no way around that.
