When you log into yahoo it should say that you are using an old edition of internet explorer, click the bottom link that says use old version or something to those effects and you will be able to check your mail. It's not as efficient as using the new version, but at least you can check your mail. The only actual solution I'm aware of is to upgrade to Pocket PC 2003. After I did that yahoo no longer said I had an outdated IE version bc the upgrade gave me a new version of Pocket IE.

I used RegKing to "fool" sites that I had an IE 6.0 but can't undo the hack for times I want to look at ppc optimized sites or use Skweezer. Any ideas why I can't "unhack" a hack?

Thanks.

There is a very simple change to the registry that allows you to toggle between ppc and desktop type PIE:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\CURRENTVERSIO N\INTERNET_SETTINGS\USER AGENT\POST PLATFORM

If delete the key entry "PPC;320X240", then PIE looks like IE 5/6

If you add the key entry "PPC;320X240" back in, then PIE looks like a mobile device

Thanks. I'd rather not mess with the registry but I think in this instance I'll look for a registry tweaker and give it at try.

I downloaded a registry editor but can't navigate past HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\. MICROSOFT etc. doesn't appear. Any other ideas?

I found another way that I think takes me to the same location in the registry, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Internet Settings\User Agent\ , and found within POST PLATFORM

... now to finish the post (TAB vs. Caps Lock confusion). Within POST PLATFORM is the notation PPC; 240X320. KPDUTY. you indicate 320X240. Could that make the difference not allowing it to switch back to the earlier version of IE?

Depends on the version of INotes.

INotes uses some heavy Active X plug ins.
(But the version that ships with 6.5 works on linux, so I am guessing that take care of it)

If you have INotes, then you can also use Outlook to connect to your INotes account, then sync with Outlook.

Or if you also just use the Notes Client, using something like mNotes to sync up.

I use mNotes to sync up by cable, but I would also like to be able use our wireless network to be able to get to iNotes and check my mail. So far I have found nothing that will fool iNotes into thinking my pda has IE 6.0 or above.

not sure if this would help you but it's worth a try

http://reensoft.com/product/PIEPlus/

they have a free trial....the price is $14.95 less a 15% discount from Handango.com using the code 37C10 ($12.71).

With Wireless, you can still setup a connect to your desktop through active sync. Then mNotes can work through the wireless connect to the desktop to sync Lotus Notes.

Have you tried that?

I must change my opinion as the IBM machine that runs Lotus keeps changing its stategy and the name of the product.

The new product is WebSphere Everyplace. It is still in beta and is the next generation of "Everyplace"

mNotes does offer a wireless enterprize solution now too that as long as you are connected to the network somehow, it will sync.

In fact I got a promo email about it just last week trying to convice me that it was better than the blackberry solution. (Blackberry is a separate device yet with a dedicated server. Blackberry OS is a Java VM machine and their webbrowser is even worse as it doesn't support any jscript at all)

So, do mNotes - http://www.commontime.com it is the best solution out there (Oh and they provided the wireless connectivity at LotusSphere this past year.)
