Hmm ActiveSync won't install on PC

I just got my new Axim, with Outlook 2202 and ActiveSync 3.7
The Outlook installed just fine on my PC, but the ActiveSync won't.
It gives a warning about the safety of the author/viruses/etc, I click on Open File, the pop-up goes away, but nothing happens.
The pop-up appeared for the Outlook install, but it went just fine.
I've been searching here for over an hour with no luck. Any help out there will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Try downloading ActiveSync from the Microsoft website. Link. You also need full privileges on your computer and you should shutdown any firewalls. For some people ZoneAlarm has caused problems when it was shutdown...meaning they had to uninstall it.

No passwords, no firewalls, I'm the only user, and should have full privledges, but I'll check. Living on the edge..... still haven't installed the virus protection.

Hmm same problem

I tried the download. Seemed to go fine, but when it finished, the progress box closed, and that was it. Nothing else happened, even after rebooting. Going into file Explorer, there is an ActiveSync folder, with 3 files in it:
MSCONV97.DLL 145 KB
MSWRD832.CNV 277 KB
RICHINK.DLL 205 KB

The same as when I did the install from the Dell CD. Have not heard back from Dell e-mail support yet. Only 8 hours though.

Also, when I go to add/remove programs, ActiveSync does NOT appear.

ActiveSync won't install

I just got my Axim 400, and I can't get ActiveSync to install on my PC. I loaded the Dell CD, installed Outlook 2002 just fine. Started ActiveSync install, clicked "OPEN" at the security window, the CD started spinning, the hard drive light came on, but after a few seconds it all just stopped. I tried it again, same results. Thinking that was too quick, I checked, and couldn't find a shortcut for it. Checking in file explorer, I found an ActiveSync folder, with 3 files in it:
MSCONV97.DLL 145 KB
MSWRD832.CNV 277 KB
RICHINK.DLL 205 KB

That's it. Nothing else. I tried installing thru run/setup.exe with the same results. It was also suggested in the newbie forum that I download direct from MS. I deleted the ActiveSync folder, and downloaded. This time, ActiveSync downloaded, but when it was done, I had the same result.

Also, eventhough there is an ActiveSync folder, it does not show up in Add/Remove programs.

Waiting for Dell email support...

still no luck

I tried saving the ActiveSync 3.7 download to my desktop, and then installing it. It says it is copying files, then stops. Nothing else. Not even a folder on the hard drive. Maybe this new PPC2003 Dell fix will help????

Dell support didn't have the answer, yet. Maybe they'll come up with something. Maybe the PPC2003 fix???
I also saved the download to my desktop and tried to install it from there. It said it was copying the files, but then it stopped, and did nothing else. No folder or file on the hard drive this time.
