Question Do you need activesync to transfer files?

Hi-

Do you need activesync to transfer files to the Axim? I wanted to use it kinda like a mobile hard drive and everything and didn't want to have to install activesync everytime I wanted to transfer a file from or to the Axim. Can I just plug it in to the usb slot with the cable and transfer a file that way? Thanks for all your help!

as far as it goes, you still need A.S. to communicate with the Axim from your PC. If you were going to use your Ax has a mobile storage, maybe you should have invested in a USB drive.

Or, you could use a storage card along with a card reader, then transfer it to the Axim that way. But directly to the Ax, you need A.S. just like ceej13 said.

Or if you have a storage card reader, you can transfer files using the storage card, as smeg36 has mentioned and do it that way.

If you have a network set up and a network adapter you could map a drive through Resco File explorer and use that to transfer files. you may be able to thorugh another app but I know not how.

You can actually connect to a shared directory on a PC through a WiFi card using the builtin file explorer, however certain third party apps are probably easier.

Ok, thanks - I don't really plan on doing this too much but for now I guess I will just install activesync on the laptop I plan to use. I'll also look into a sd card reader. Thanks again!

Start/help/connections on your Axim will get you going.

Or just point your axim IR at the laptop IR and the wireless connection box should open and ask you what you want to do.
