MS-Exchange and Axim...

Does anyone know if Axim can create calendar entries or tasks that I can "INVITE ATTENDEES" to by using my attendees that exist on my business server. I know I can see appts and tasks that were scheduled by others and those get correctly synced via Activesync, but what if I want to schedule appts when I'm outside the office environement. This may not be explained clearly. I hope it makes sense...

I honestly don't remember if the normal calendar program does or not but I looked real quick at mine that has Pocket Informant and it looks like it can do the invites. So I would assume the normal calendar can as Pocket Informanat uses the underlying calendar database functions ...

If not then at least you know Pocket Informant might be an option ...

The pocket calendar will only invite attendees from your contacts.

That's what I'm afraid of. So how do I invite attendees that exist only when I'm connected to my LAN server via Exchange????? There has to be a way...

I don't think your going to be able to ... If you don't have the contacts on your Axim you can't do it as there is no way it know who to send the invites to ... You do have to have someone to invite ... The reason you see them when connected to the LAN is your using its contacts using an active directory ...

You can manually create a contact for everyone you might invite (yes not very effective) or you can possibly have your LAN personnel give you an import of all the personnel in the directory so you can add it to yours .. But then they would have to do it on a regular basis to keep up with changes .. But depending on the number of people in the company that would not be feasible ... Our directory on our LAN has the contact info for literally thousands of people (almost everyone in the Air Force that has an email address) so there is no way I can do it ...

Planet-Ed,

OK. I'll buy that idea. In my case, there are only 3-4 entries I need in my contacts list. That group is very static and if I add anyone, I can easily update it on my copy of Outlook. I tried that, but experienced the following issue. When I created a contact to look just like the entry that exists inside of Exchange, it assumed that the contact also was someone that exists at a domain outside of my LAN. So, it not only sent it correctly via my LAN, but also tried to send it out to the internet. That caused an error, but the entry did get to the correct recipient. Is this the only way to do this? Can I tweak it?

I don't know .. I don't have an Exchange server to test it on .. I'm just theorozing (sp?) ... I work on an Air Force base and it is STRICTLY forbidden to connect a personal PDA to the LAN ...

Or get on their newsgroups server .. I think it was news.microsoft.com from your newsreader ... Can try their pocketpc thread if they have one and if not then ask their Exchange thread ..

Lots of people participate oin their newsgroups.
