Hmm Xscale Ctrl screwed up Mem card access

Hi all,

Just to share my experience, wondering if anyone experiencing the same problem as me....

I just got my Axim 3 days ago and I've tried out the Xscale Ctrl after finding out that my Axim's bus speed is only 99MHz (PXA255, A05, WM2003). I decided to try out the program to increase the bus speed to the optimal 199MHz. However, when the bus speed is increased, I found that the access to the CF card is very unstable, resulting in Axim read the card as empty. I quickly revert the bus speed back and I can see the files in the card again. However it did corrupt one of my directories and I need to re-format the CF card in order to get rid of it. Since then I have keep the Axim in its stock processing speed.

Is this a hardware limitation? Find it's funny since most of you guys here are pretty successful with the program....

It's probably because you have the Axim Basic. people in this PXbus thread have the Axim Advance. You may also want to be sure you set everything properly. check out Intel® PXA255 Applications Processors Developer's Manual Table 3-1 on page 67.

Oh, I see! :crooked: Ok man, I'll take a look at the manual, and if all else fails, guess I'll just leave the Axim as it is :D

Mad Data lost after Xscale Ctrl

I made the same bad experience with Xscale Ctrl on my AXIM X5 Advanced (PXA255, A03, 2002). After i switched the bus speed to 199MHz and tried to access to my CF-Card (128 MB) all Files and Directories was corrupted. I had to re-format the CF Card. Now i use the freeware tool Turbo Tray, which do not change the bus speed and since that i have no problems.

But i would like to increase the bus speed to, if i could be sure that my files would be OK.

Perhaps someone is going to find out the reason (i hope so)
