Uninstall/Removal Utilities...

Anyone have a line on (preferably) freeware that goes a bit beyond the "Remove Programs" tool in PPC2k2 for removing proggies from the Ax? I've got some dead links to old programs, and I'm looking for something that will do a little bit better job for me.

I've tried to get "Remover" but the *.zip file I dl'ed I can't extract, as it appears to be corrupted (thats what the decompression utility is telling me)

Does anyone know of something like this?

Girion, there is also a remover program under Settings->System->Remove Programs.

As well, if you want to just delete shortcuts, use an Explorer program and go to Windows->Start Menu and then delete the .lnk of the programs you want to delete.

Thanks Gigi, and I do use the imbedded "Remove Programs" util, but I'm looking for something a bit more robust.

I'd heard good things about "Remover" but I'm not able to find it anywhere. I'd also like if it would delete dead *.lnk files, and clean the registry as well.....but I don't know if such a thing exists.

This is where I downloaded remover from, and it works fine.

Can anyone tell me why I might not be able to open remover.zip from that download location? I keep getting a "this file is corrupt or unable to be opened" error and I've tried downloading it 2x already. I even dl'ed from home and e-mailed it to myself, with no results.....I'd like to see it in action if nothing else. Can anyone e-mail me the uncompressed ARM file or something?

Girion, you can edit the registry using PHM Registry Editor, which is free!

Also, here is another download site for remover:

Remover

Just click on the blue text that says "Telecharger" to download.

Thanks for all your help Gigi....it looks like that site has an older version of Remover though. I can't believe I'm having this much trouble with a zip'ed file....LOL.

Oh well, I'm leaving on vacation soon, I'll worry about it when I get back.

*edit* I contacted the author of Remover, and he kindly pointed me to another site that I got the download from, and just installed the software with the updated version. Seems to work fine, and I love the help util built in. Thanks to everyone who gave advice!

I've been using Remover 1.15 for awhile now but, just today it said "Time Left for This Version" and then a lot of Russian right below that. There was an input box. I tried to input my name but it wouldn't take it. Now the program doesn't work. I can get to the screen where I can choose the program to uninstall but, the action button (trashcan icon) doesn't work.

When I click on the Information icon a small window pops up that says "Freeware release Licensed to UnRegistered"

How do I register this thing and is it free?

I just got that EXACT same error message this morning EdBro, I don't know what the deal is either, as it is freeware.

Hi guys,

I experienced the same today, with the russian stuff...

Good luck, I know one :-) The text sais something like enter the actual day in kyrillic letters, what I did using copy and paste from wordpad since i don`t have kyrillic chars on my axim.

Anyway this didn´t work for me.

So i downloaded the new versin from the developers hp and since then-- no problems...

Hope this helps.
