Did you try a soft reset of the Axim? Try putting the Axim in the cradle, or connecting the cable, then soft resetting. Also, Activesync uses TCP/IP for communications so if you use wireless and the Ax gets a new IP number from somewhere, then when it connects the partnership will look different. A soft reset will fix that problem for you. Finally, if you are running a firewall, try disabling it and setting up the partnership, then restarting the firewall. Sometimes firewalls interfere with the Activesync communcations.
