Heres the story.
I am on WM2003 / Activesync 3.7.
Whenever i dump a hugh file on my axim.
Say it takes anywhere around 10-15mins perhaps?
Activesync automatically disconnects.
Irregardless whether the downloading file has been completed.
This is quite flustrating.
Suggestions anyone?

It looks like it may be a case of going to third party software. It seems to me that most Microsoft utilities are sort of half hearted attempts. I too am having problems with activesync.

I have had that problem with large files using the old versions (PPC2000 and 2002). I think it has to do with active sync not being able to poll the axim since it is tied up with the transfer. Not 100% sure about that part though. When I have a large file to transfer to/from the axim i put it on either my CF or SD card and use a reader. It is much faster that way anyway.

I have the same problem. When dumping mp3 files to the SD card on my Axim Active Sync usually disconnects somewhere in the middel of the file. Smaller files 1-2 MB is ok, but a 6MB file is always disconnected.

Did you ever solve the problem?

There is this free filemanager that allowes you to move files from/to ppc to/from pc without Activesync. You may give that a try.

I have a problem using WM2003 and ActiveSync 3.7 too. Whenever I plug my Axim into the cradle for the first time that day, ActiveSync connects for about 5 minutes and then loses the connection. I unplug the Ax and replug it into the cradle and everything works fine after that.

Pls look for my discussion with Dishan1's on the WM 2003 forum about ActiveSync problems. I've been able to solve my problem by uninstalling and re-installing ActiveSync. So far tonight, I haven't lost my connection (over 45 minutes) and I am able to download large files (up to 20 Mb) through ActiveSync to my CF and SD cards.

I did a hard reset of the Axim and now I've transfered about 120MB of MP3 from my PC to the SD card on Axim using drag-n-drop via Explorer. No problems so far. Previously I was lucky if I could transfer 2MB befor the connection dropped.

Tomorrow we are getting 802.11b WiFi LAN at work so then the slow USB syncing will be a thing of the past. Cant wait.....
