Question Deleting thumbs.db files form multiple zip/rar archieves simultaneously.

Ok heres my dilemma. I use Wisbar Advance 2/3, Wisbar Advance Desktop Weatherpanel and Pocketweather along with a few other programs that utilize skins. These skins usually come in folders that are archived in zip/rar files and each of those folders have at least one thumbs.db file some of which are close to 1 Mg in size.

I would like to delete all these unnecessary files; but I have a problem; I have 57 of them scattered across 357 folders in 109 zip archives.

I have spent the entire day researching this. During my research I have learned how to disable their creation and how to use a DOS command to delete them (C:\> del thumbs.db /f /s /a). I have also used the desktop file explorer to search for them.

Unfortunately the WinXp file system can see all of them but doesn't allow for mass deletion from multiple zip directories; each one must be deleted individually. And I don't know what DOS command to use (assuming there is one) to look inside zip/rar archives.

Is there a program that can both search and delete a specific files particularly thumbs.db files from multiple zip/rar archives?

Have a look at the AutoMate software from network automation. It will allow you to automate any number of tasks. You could have it iterate through each zip file, extract it, remove the thumbs.db and re-zip it. All while you watch.

Network Automation Inc - Download Automate Now

There is a 30 day unrestricted trial available.

Would something like DB Delete for Win CE work? I don't think it searches inside archives, though, but I could be mistaken.
