I use my PDA mostly for pdf files at work. I've been using Adobe Reader 2.0 reluctantly for the last many months. I tried all other readers on the market for PPC and Adobe worked the best compared to all the others, including Foxit. My comparison was several months ago.
I just checked Foxit's site tonight (haven't been to their site for months) and they have a new version of their reader out on August 8, 2007 for PPC. It is absolutely fantastic compared to the previous version and Adobe. I believe I'm actually going to buy it, it's so good. Can't believe there is finally a reader out that actually is super fast and works great. It's about time!! Adobe is dragging their feet and Foxit may just have cornered the market for PPC now with this version IMHO.

Yes!, foxit reader is the bomb! The first time i used it, i thought of it like the first time i used firefox. Foxit reader is a lot faster than adobe, doesnt take up as much hd space, and doesnt nag u to install yahoo toolbar.
Foxit reader is the king of pdfs, just like firefox is the king of browsers. And they even both have fox in their name. LOL!
WHO HAS EVER DONE THIS!
Your going around browsing the web, when all of a sudden, BAM!, you click a pdf. The browser freezes, you wait and its just not responding, finally after minutes adobe pops up and nags you with an upgrade to a newer version, and yahoo toolbar...
Get foxit reader, and pdf will be just like html, no wait, no freeze ups.

IMO it doesn't even compare, it's so much better. I just used PocketXpdf yesterday (hadn't used it for months, now I remember why) when I was having trouble (AGAIN) with Adobe Reader on my x51v. It was so s-s-s-s-l-l-l-l-l-lo-o-o-o-o-w-w-w-w-w I could hardly stand it. Adobe is even better for me than PocketXpdf, which is why I used it for so long. Then I tried the new Foxit last night and it was actually a joy to use- super fast and nice sharp pdfs.
The only two drawbacks to Foxit for me right now:
1. There is no way to tell the software to remember the last view and take you there upon opening that particular pdf in the future (one of the things I like about Adobe).
2. There is no find feature in Foxit (another feature I really like about Adobe).
With these two things missing, I still have Foxit set as my default pdf viewer simply because of the unbelievable speed it has compared to all the other readers I've tried. Foxit opens pdfs much faster and renders the pages MUCH faster than Adobe or PocketXpdf. I tried an 89MB, 893 page pdf with Foxit and it worked fantastic.
I almost forgot to mention that the bookmarks feature beats Adobe hands down, for me at least. When clicking on the bookmarks button at the bottom, Foxit opens that feature in another window allowing you to actually see them clearly and choose them more easily than than those sub-miniature bookmarks Adobe uses when the reader is used with the VGA hack. No hacks needed for Foxit- there are two versions.
I really hope they develop this more with the missing features I mentioned. If they do, Adobe won't have a leg to stand on as far as PPC pdf readers go.

I'm thinking you must be referring to Foxit for PC and not PPC as I was referring to. Just wanted to clear up what I was referring to. I also use Foxit sometimes for PC (pretty much whenever Adobe locks up or won't print right).

They just came out with another updated version with a find function. Getting better all the time- still not perfect, but getting there. If they keep this up (improving it frequently), then Adobe Reader for PPC won't have a chance unless they update.
The latest version also supports Smartphone as well as Pocket PC devices.
What're the limitations of the free version? It seems to crap out on me every couple of pages (with large PDF files, above 2MB) for some reason, and I'm not sure I want to shell out $20 for something that does that, at least not yet.

There's a logo bar at the top of the viewing area and a pop-up every time you open a file, but other than that, fully functional as far as I can tell. I haven't purchased it yet, but am leaning towards it more and more as they keep improving this pdf reader.
I opened a pdf that was over 130 MB and 1200 pages full of color images and text and it worked just fine. Tested this latest version quite extensively today with lots of different large pdf files at work, so I don't know why it is acting up on your device.

Maybe it hates my Axim. I'm using Tengo as my default keyboard, and I've noticed that it just closes out for no apparent reason with some files. Had a similar issue with the last version too.

Hmmm, I'm using Tengo Free as my default keyboard. Who knows with these things- just like PCs- they can be temperamental sometimes for no apparent reason.

Using ADOBE put me off from reading pdf's on my Axim. Unless a program comes out that can reflow (word wrap) the pdf, I'll find something else to read, like a .chm file.
I did try Foxit (for PPC) back when i 1st got my toy, and it rocked then, I just don't like scrolling the screen from side to side.
