Cash Organizer 07 w/Money 06

I just purchased CO 2007 and cannot figure out how to get it to open my current desktop MS Money 06 file. I successfully installed on my Axim 51v but it will not open my money file at all.
If anyone has any suggestions, please HELP! I tried to email the Inesoft for help but have not had any luck with their support. No replies from them.

Are you trying to open the .mny Money 2006 file with CO 2007? If you are you will not be able to read that file with CO 2007. CO 2007 was meant to sync with Money via ActiveSync or you can also import QIF/OFX/QFX files into CO 2007.

Another thing to watch out for with this version of CO is that it somehow locks the Money database with its own password. When you leave your PDA docked and it tries to sync again it will ask for some password that nobody knows and you're forced to have to recover from a backup copy of your Money database. I posted a work around there if you look at the forums at Inesoft's website. Needless to say, trying to get support from the company about this problem has been pointless.

When you say "password lock of your MS money database", do you mean the password that shows up when you are attempting a sync with CO2007 and ActiveSync pops up a dialogue box asking for another password other than your MS Money password?

If so, I wouldn't be able to tell you that password nor can the people at Inesoft. It seems like CO2007 locks the current MS Money database when it is performing a sync. Once it tries to sync again it asks for this lock password. When that occurs, you'll have to undock your PDA and exit out of MS Money. When you launch MS Money again it will point to the Money database showing the local path (i.e. C:\Documents and Settings\<username>........) and will not accept your password.

I checked the forums at Inesoft and it looks like they have deleted the whole entire topic about people having problems where the application would lock the database. Here's my workaround.

To recover from the password lock notification:
- Undock PDA
- Exit out of MS Money
- Launch MS Money and restore from a previous backup (not the latest backup).

The workaround is to make sure NOT to have MS Money open while the PDA is docked. You used to be able to perform transactions with MS Money while the PDA was docked with the last version of CO. I don't know why you can't do that now.

I am convinced that the new version of CashOrg was writen by a completely different developer team. The previous version was very reliable, this one is a total junk. I have nothing but problems with it, I am just looking for a replacement. And the Inesoft either doesn't reply at all or take "blame the user" approach.

I wholeheartedly agree with you Amamba. All of my requests for support from Inesoft seems to have fallen on deaf ears. I never received a reply back from them for the dozen or so email that I have sent to them. They did promptly reply back to an email I had sent regarding purchasing and activating the software though. Go figure!

I checked around their forums when I was replying to YKiY to see if my posts were still there and found the general feel of their forums was the "blame the user" tone. Needless to say, they no longer have my business nor will I be recommending any of their software to anyone again.

hardwarejunkie,

I wish I came across this post back in 2007 since I'm one of the people who posted on Inesoft's forum about the password issue and had their post removed. Was one of the very active users at that time and talked to Wasyl about running a debug version, but nothing happend of that. I tried CO2008 w/ MS 2007 on WM6 and the same problem still occurs, in fact today. Again, I've posted on their forum (Inesoft Address Book, Windows Mobile Software, Pocket Quicken, Microsoft Money), so lets see if this one gets removed as well.

Thanks for the heads up on CO2008, gsutcliffe. I was actually planning on upgrading to that version just to see if anything has changed and it looks like it hasn't. Oh well, I'll stick with Money 2007 and CO2007 for now and take the "hurry up and wait" approach.
