I'm looking for a better word processor for my pocket pc. Sure Word is a great program but you can only open files that are 200KBs or less. Its big but I can't open game guides and fan fics. From lookng at Freewareppc, most of them need extra software just to run it.
Nothing good for free in this area. TextMaker is the best and it is not free. If you keep your eye on the site you can get it for 50% off. Other than that there is no real competition.

How much does it normally cost?
What is the cap, if any, on opening large documents?
How much space does it take on the ppc?
Here's the link - you can download the trial and see what you think.
Me, I'd prefer to do any grunt work on the desktop and then convert it to the PPC format - much easier and a lot cheaper
If you really do want to edit and create word documents on the PPC, there is nothing better.
PPC Format? Well in general I want to read the documents. I don't need to edit and create them. My goal is to find something that can open and view large document files.
If you do not need to edit there are other options for readers. MobiPocket will convert doc files and you can read them on that. It will handle encyclopedic sized volumes and it is free. The speed is ok. There is also iSilo (my favorite) that is not free. It is very fast. It has iSiloX which is a conversion program that works good. For word documents I convert to HTML and then convert to iSilo. There is also ClearView suite which is not free but is a good fast viewer for Office Documents and PowerPoint on the PPC.

cravause is right, you may also want to consider converting your Word documents to the MS Reader format as another option. This will reduce their size and improve the pagination, making them easier to read on the ppc.

So how would I do that. Download a software and let it convert it?
