Pocket Informant question

I'm trying to decide between AF & PI and IMHO , the user guides for both are really lousy. I can do the basic stuff, like entering a new appt, but I'm finding no help in trying to set up a repeating appt with icon showing in the monthly view. I work a 2 week rotation and trying to show my days off (Sat & Sun every other week) in PI just doesn't seem to be explained. Any help out there? Thanks...Dan

I think you can do that but it might be better to post this question at the PI website. The developers read everything there really closely and the other users may have an answer for you.

The ability to do recurring appointments, etc, is controlled by M$oft through Outlook and not by AF or PI. If you can do it in Outlook, you should be able to do it in your Ax. Having said that, you can schedule the same day every 2, 3, 4, 5, 10 and 20 weeks. In fact, the recurring mode if fairly flexible. What it cannot do is schedule the a workday that isn't the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th or last day of the month. In other words, if you need to schedule something for the 6th working day of the month, every month, you are out of luck.

Setting recurring entries in PI is simply a matter of opening an appointment (new or already established) and clicking on the down arrow at the end of the line that extends from "Recur". If none of the choices fit your needs, click on "Edit Pattern". There you can chose between daily, weekly, monthly or yearly options. Each tab has it's own settings.

I have some odd days off also. They rotate every week. Mon-Tues Tues-Wed Wed-Thu Thu-Fri. When I get to weekends I have 3 days off, Fri-Sat-Sun Sat-Sun-Mon. I was able to set these up in PI using the edit recurring function. Every day in the rotation repeated every seven weeks. So I went to each day off in the cycle once and set it to repeat every seven weeks. Voila, I don't have to enter them manually any more. Hope this helps with your problem.
