Question Which notepad-utility to choose

Hey...

I use the built-in Notes functionality a lot, but it doesn't really suit my needs.

I need a better way of organizing my notes and a more flexible search.

I have found several alternatives. bLADE wiki looks interesting.

Is there anything else out there with good search- and organiza-functionality, which is well-integrated with Outlook and my Desktop PC?

Any suggestions would be appreciated :)

Have you looked at the offerings from PhatWare?

MS Onenote 2007 is good option for it's brilliant features on the desktop version. The same can't be said about it's mobile counterpart though. Both of them can sync with each other with limited functionality.

Have a look at it.

It depends on what functionality you need - handwriting, character formatting, hyperlinks or just plain text.

For handwritten notes PhatPad is the best, imho.

If you don't care about handwriting and formatting (ie you can live with plaintext notes) try Tombo - it has powerful search, outline-like tree view of notes, desktop counterpart and allows powerful encryption (and better else, its notes are plain text and can be used in pretty much any application). It's freeware.

Another one to try is ADB Idea Library, also freeware. It allows linking other files to notes. Hasn't been developed in quite a while but still pretty useful.

I am not a big fan of PhatNotes but then some people love it.

Good luck !
