What has happened to Stocks & Weather Today?
Stocks and Weather Today hasn't been updated since August 2006. Has S & W Today become abandon-ware like Weatherpanel?

I've wondered what happened to it also. The website's up but the forum has been down for some time. Even though I use SBSH PocketWeather now, I liked S&W Today. While it still works as a regular today plugin, it doesn't play nice as a tab within PocketBreeze on my machines.

Hi, StocksAndWeatherToday is alive and well.
The reason we have not updated it, is because it still works.
Our last major update was about two years ago and in it we devised a scheme where we could automatically update our weather parsers without forcing our customers to update their application.
It turns out this was a great thing to do. When NOAA changes their format (which they tend to do frequently) we can make the appropriate changes on our systems and not force our customers to update their application.
From day one, Stocks and Weather Today was a very stable application, no memory leaks or that kind of stuff that some of the knock offs have had (and continue to have).
We never wanted Stocks and Weather Today to be an application that tries to do everything. We concentrated on just Stocks and Weather and we think we have one of the best solutions out there. Of course, there are several alternatives out there, some good, and some crap.
We shut our forum down a while back because our support issues are pretty much non existent and we were being bombarded by spammers trying to promote cheap meds and porn and other crap. Our support email is still live and we pride ourselves in answering support emails in less than 5 hours from the time they arrive (this includes weekends!). To be fair though, we get very few support emails these days.
We no longer sell anything on PocketGear. Our registration codes are now tied to the purchasers email address. Last year, PocketGear quit providing the developers the emails of the people who purchased the developer's applications. In addition, PocketGear now requires all support questions to be routed through them. PocketGear will then, when they get around to it, forward the request to us and act as a middleman.
We have an excellent reputation for handling support emails and didn't want to allow PocketGear to jeopardize that. When we complained to PocketGear that we wanted to deal with support email directly and that our registration mechanism requires the customer's email address, they refused. They said our only option was to change our registration mechanism and to allow them to get the support emails and not allow us to communicate directly with the people who bought our applications. We told them there was another option, for us to drop PocketGear altogether which we did and in reality it has not affected our revenue stream at all.
The reason we tie our registration to the customer's email is that our registration codes were showing up on password hacker sites (especially in Russia). Interestingly enough, most of the hacked codes were obtained through PocketGear.
If you buy your Windows Mobile / Pocket PC software on PocketGear you might want to reconsider. See if the developer sells it directly on their site and if not see if it is available on Handango.
We are also considering dropping Handango because we are getting sick of paying their high fees.
So, bottom line is that Stocks and Weather Today is still alive and doing well. :approve: We are financially secure and not looking for funding like some of our competitors are doing.

Well I am certainly glad to hear that you have disappeared into the wind like Martian. So I guess it's safe to give your software a try.

I assume you meant to say that we have not disappeared like the martian.
Sure, give Stocks and Weather Today a try. The demo (free) version is fully functional for a short period of time.
If you have any questions or problems, please send an email to our support email (available at our web site ( Welcome to Stocks & Weather Today!)). I am not posting it here because of all the spam trolls that are out there.

Well, we just proved Murphy's Law is alive and well :).
Today a user reported that the stocks portion of Stocks and Weather Today was not working in certain situations.
We found the problem and put a fix out. Version 5.83 was just posted on our download page.
