Is there a software that I can use to completely turn the axim off and not just on standby mode with screen off?
preferably free :)
Pdas arent made to be completely off. The only way you could make it off, is by taking the battery out, which could possibly cause data loss if left out too long.

A small free program called psShutXP will do what you want. I can't remember where I got it from but an Aximsite search or Google should find it.
It is only 51.5 KB so it is small enough to in Main Memory.
It can also do a soft reset or shut off the screen when playing audios.
PsshutXp is great software, but only does the same as the power button, b/c a "full shutdown" <device would be at soft reset screen every time you turned it on, isnt easily possible. Pdas werent made to run that way.

The easiest way is this:
1) Go to power options;
2) Go to the last tab "Power Button";
3) Configure a long press of the power button to full power off.
I have my Axim set up this way. Works great.

Thanks you DDR. Out of all the people in this thread your answer was the most obvious and most functional one. I was going to say the same thing, and was dismayed as I scrolled through the other answers. Doesn't anyone know what options they have in settings? I too have my Ax set up like this. Especially when traveling and needing to conserve battery.
