I have played around with a few different mp3 players...

winampaq looked great, but kept locking up my axim.
My favorite for a long time was PocketMVP,
but some of there more recent versions, (they're constantly
tweaking it) also kept freezing up my Axim.

Don't like pocketmusic,
Didn't like conduits MP3 player,

The one I have settled on, and even PAID for, (now thats a miracle)
is WithMP3.
it is a little quirky, but the equalizer function actually works,
there is little or no pauses in between tracks like there was
with PocketMVP, and I'm not sure if it is just me or not,
but music, and a radio show that gets emailed to me, ( a low bitrate mp3 file), sound better, richer, with WithMP3.

An onscreen equalizer is useful because when i am on the train,
and the volume is maxed out, I can add a little extra boost when necessary.

another way of putting it is....

MINE GOES UP TO ELEVEN!

I love Conduit Pocket Player (to the point of paying for it). It's well rounded, the playlists management is cool (with the "Add folder" function), and the equalizer works great...

I've tried and tested all mentioned plus a couple others I can't remember the names of. I was mostly concerned with SQ and not much else. WithMP3 came out on top, very powerful EQ! The rest were less SQ, some had slightly better features but not considering the difference in sound. Look at my bit below for the Koss headphones I use. They were the highest ranked is sound out of all under $50 and beat many that cost more than that.
