Worried

Is there any difference in the syntax of a printer setup if the network printer is a shared USB printer (I'm assuming that the suffix _L1 means LPT1 port)???

HP Mobile printing was the way to go. Printing is no problem now.

Thanks,

Rodney

Worried Will this work?

Please don't think me dumb here, but if I have "PrintPocketCE" and yet I don't have an HP printer, (I have a "Bother HL 1240 Laser Pritner"), and if I download this HP software and install it on my Axim, will I be able to IR it to my printer?

Now, the obvious answer is probably "no", because where would it "IR" to? So, is there an inexpensive "Infered Reader", that I could plug into a USB port that would tell the printer, (my Brother pritner), to print when I "beam" a document to the Infared Reader?

Hmm

The problem with IR when using the HP mobile software is that non HP printers don't seem to work(wonder why) . The way I have found to get it around this is by setting up the printers as shared and printing to them via the network.

I just downloaded and installed HP MOBILE PRINTING,

first in the doc they say i should have a choice for networked printers wen setting a new printer, well this option is not their, only IR or BLUETOOTH is present.

then i tried using IR on my HP 6P, it is detected but the printer cannot be saved, i always get an error ...

anybody have a sugestion ?

Just a comment here:

First of all, the early HP printers are not compatible with Pocket PC IR transfers. I have a photosmart P1000, and it has the irDA port, which is specifically designed for "JetSend" transfers. This is a completely different language then the types of files we are trying to send via our PPC's IR-Serial port. Unfortunately, many of HP's printers that support "JetSend" are not compatible with the PPC. The newer models are no longer labeled as "JetSend" but are now compatible with both. I believe the P1000/P1100 were the last photosmart printers NOT compatible with the PocketPC. Hence, the software will recognize the printer, and install it, but when you attempt to send a file, the printer is not recognized. I am considering forming a group of people to petition for a firmware upgrade for the early model photosmart printers. If anyone is interested, or has an earlier HP model printer with JetSend that won't work with thier PPC, email me at

snipercharlie@sbcglobal.net

If I get enough support, maybe we'll put a website up, have a nice message board and such. I hope this helps some of you...I know I was frustrated for quite a while.

Hmm Can't make HP work on my Ax5....

Maybe it's just me (begin jokes now)....)
I've downloaded the HP wireless printer program but it won't print from my Ax5.
I do have an Espon stylu color printer (1 of the 2 in the actual config), my network is strong, and I can print from 2 other wireless comps (1 desktop & 1 laptop) on my printers.
I've configured & RE-configured the printer on the PDa, to no avail.
What address are you using?

Thanx.
