Has anyone successfully printed from their Axim ?

I installed the Free HP printing software and purchased a WiFi Card but cannot print from Axim to printer ..
I can surf the net and ping other wireless PC's on my Network but can not print.
The printer is locally attached to one of my PC's and shared by other PC's so shouldn't the Axim find it also ??
No Blue tooth, infrared or network card in printer...
Any idea's ???

I was trying to Use the HP Mobile printing software as well. But I have an IR printer for it. I also am having problems with it. When I go to where you choose the kind of printer it has the busy icon on the middle of the screen. And I waited for over a half an hour and it wouldn't go away. It never even gave me the option to choose an IR printer. I was wondering if those options showed up for you? If you got farther than I. I did send in an email to HP and am awaiting my reply from them

I use a little program called PrintPocketCE it prints most types of documents from the PocketPC and I use my IR port on my PPC and HP printer to print, never had a problem, you might wanna check this program out:

Thanks for everyone's solution advise.
I also just found the way to print for anyone else that may want to set their Axim up this way the price is right Free:
First have your locally attached printer setup as shared on PC the printer is connected to then after installing the Free HP Mobile printing Software on Axim setup Printer as shared and it finally works.
Found it in the Quick setup manual:

I have an HP Photosmart printer &amp; I have tried to print using the HP Mobile Printing software. I went thru the set up on the Axim &amp; it detected the printer by name. When I went to print I got an error saying 'unable to communicate with printer. Please align the IR ports of your device and the printer.' Just 30 seconds before it recognized the printer thru the IR port just fine. Why is it having this problem now?

I read the last post about setting the PC attached printer as shared - I did this &amp; still no change.

Any help would be appreciated!

I tried another option by trying to use the PrintPocketCE software. The post said he hasn't had any problems since using this software &amp; I noticed he too has an HP printer. However, when I click on a word document to print it acts like it tries then I get this pop up:

&quot;Unable to establish infared link.&quot;

I should have mentioned that I know both of the IR ports work. I am able to use my digital camera to JetSend photos to the printer thru IR and I am able to beam info from my cell phone to the Axim thru IR.

To print from the USB cable, the Axim would have to have USB host software, and you would have to have a driver. The Axim has neither of either. A couple of brands have tried, but it has not been a great success so far.

I've always liked the larger HPC (clamshell) because of their built-in support for printing. I even own one. To bad the last unit went off the market.

Given all the interest, I can't believe Microsoft won't improve printing support soon.

I think it is pretty clear that the HP software will NOT print to an IR printer. The Solution that you suggest is fine if you are connected with your computer BUT that is really not a solution for those of us that want to print on the go.

It seems that a 3rd party software that costs $40 is the ONLY solution. Has anyone else had any success with anything else? Does printpocketPC print the TODO, Calendar, TASKS, etc?

I installed the HP software on my Axim and it worked fine. I beamed to a HP 6MP LaserJet.

Here is another way to Print without IR:

Setup a printer with the HP Mobile software on Axim as a shared printer on desktop computer: \\server_name\\shared_printer_name

I'm using Netgear 701 WiFi card on Axim
Netgear MA814 Wireless router(used for home Lan and DSL access)
HP Photosmart 1115 printer locally attached to desktop setup as shared running XP pro.
Works great can print anything from Axim
